Sorry to hear this happened to you, but glad to hear that you're ok. You can get another scoot for a good price...

Not sure if I'll be replacing this bike. I loved riding it but it was always too hard to get anyone to go with. Sometime you just need at least one other person to ride with. Everyone I knew baby-ed there bike and would only ride local. I would ride from New York to PA in a minute without issue. Plus I still have a Honda Goldwing, but I know it's no where near to having a DOG. Have to really think about it.

Sorry to hear about the fire. Most important your OK . It could have been alot worse.
You were lucky you werent hurt in the accident. It sucks to have your bike totaled but be thankful you didn't get injured.
Just a thought - take the insurance check - buy your bike back from the insurance Co.
Rebuild it- Great winter project. They probably will offer you a buy back if not call them and ask how much $
If your not intrested maybe another member might like a K-9 to work on- I know I would.Find out what they want for it.

Glad your OK - Thanks for sharing the story - good luck

Find another K9 and find new riding buddys that enjoy longer rides.
Glad you're OK.

Sorry for your loss but like Pete's says "There are plenty of good deals out there and here on the site" OK, I added some info but Pete's signature has me all distracted. Maybe, you can get a bike for XMAS and have Pete's girl ride on the back. Naked of course so the paint doesn't get scratched.:roll::roll::roll:

Bryan, it's like everyone else said, it could have been worse, I guess it was ment to be this way, don't give up on getting another Big Dog, everybody is right, there are so many extreamly good deals out there you have a great oppertunity to maybe get something a little different this time, maybe something you wanted but could not afford before, anyway, whatever you do, it will all work out fine, good luck!

Have you thought about fixing her yourself? They are pretty simple machines and anything can be done given the time and effort!

Insurance company took her already, and if I would had kept the bike I wouldn't get the 19K they gave me for the lost.

Keep an eye on Copart its a salvage company across the USA
I bet your bike will be on there soon. They have a yard in LI.
Buy her back - rebuild it - trust me you will be happy you did.
if they gave you 19 for it you can probably pocket at least 10 probably more.
The bikes go cheap and the parts on E bay and here in the swap meet are
are easy to find and very affordable.
Its a great winter project - Let me know if I can help.
Good luck Tim

Sorry to hear about that ,,, or even think of something like that happening ever to anyone,, but like everyone said You made it out of the whole thing in healthy you appartently had decent insurance so you have the option to get another. Think about it as "I am sure you have already". Bike is covered in gas and burns up. Your leg was covered in gas/ very fortunate you didn't do something much worst than actually happened. If you hadn't had someone yelling at you that your bike was on fire then that you were on fire as well,, possibly a few hundred feet or yards the whole thing blows with you straddle of it soaked in gas to boot. My cousin caught on fire completely on a job site. He died a couple weeks later but was awake for the most of that time. What he went through was beyond terrible for anyone. He told me he wanted to die. He did a couple days later from complications. Get another bike or don't get another bike,,, but whatever you do be thankful everyday/every second you didn't go up in flames or have to deal with severe burns.

Wow, tough story about your cousin, Ray, my condolences and may he rest in peace.

On a lighter note, this thread is almost two years old and Bryant already purchased another Big Dog.

Opps, thought it was recent incident. I have never ever liked fire, sparks , welding or anything like it. I worked around sheet metal for 24 years until the plant closed . I feel very fortunate that I left with all my fingers in tact, well at least they are still the same length they should be.
Just a thought on being safe and all that stuff in anything we are doing. My cousin worked for a company that sprayed some kind of weather proofing in homes on the blocks mostly underneath in crawl spaces. He was underneath a house and finishing up. They had something plugged up back up under the house with an extension cord. When he pulled the cord the tiny spark and the fumes underneath the house exploded. His cloths had enough of the chemical on him he was tottally on fire and under the house. He came out from under the house and sees the fire department station close. He ran to it where he was extinguished and air lifted to the hospital.
That second of something crazy happening. He probably did the same thing everyday , just that day the fumes were so concentrated the tiny spark caused them to explode and cost him his life.
Let's all be safe out there everyday.

Ray
