Mounting a Dakota Digital Speedometer on a 2003?

Hi

I just bought a 2003 Big Dog Chopper and the speedometer is not working, i have been looking at the Dakota Digital Speedometer but can i mount that on a 2003?

Welcome from Washington State, hope you enjoy the site. What part of the speedo isn't working? Just the needle, what about the mileage does that work? Have you cleaned the sensor located on the transmission? If nothing is working it could just be a loose wire, they have been known to break at the solder connection... :cheers:

Thanks for the welcome,i will check the sensor and also see if any wire is disconnected.:up:
But if i need to replace it, do i need to find a Autometer or could i mount a Dakota digital and get it to work? :confused:
I have read that it is different voltage between these old Big Dog and the newer ones, is that right?

I was wondering the same thing. I may need a new speedo for my 03 Mastiff. I searched some old posts on them and found a post where someone bought a BD140 on a group buy and installed it on his 03 PitBull. Said quick install works great.

You might want to call Curtis up and verify it'll fit your 03. I thought I seen somewhere mentioning 04 and up, just to be safe!
