I just put this together yesterday at work and thought I would share it and see what you guys think, anyway I did it cause I don't trust that damn motorcycle jack to hold up my bike for a long period of time, so this is what I came up with, just some 1" X 2" tubing and a rubber hose on the top rail, it actually works great!

I guess this should have been in the "garages and tools" section!:D

Just out of curiosity why wouldn't you want it taller?

I like the idea though!

I'm happy with my harbor freight table lift  but I know not everyone can get one to work.

I am guessing is about how much up the jack/lift can reach? you will need the jack to place the Bike on it... I mean to place the stand under the bike :D

I had that lift before it can go higher. I'm just thinking that stand would help because when that lift goes higher it does move a bit!

OK, I will measure how high my lift goes and take it from there. Good point.

Yea I think that lift is somewhere around 17-18" of lift.

That's why I was asking why he decided to leave 5-6" off? I can see if he is just using the stand to keep the wheels off the ground but it would be handy to have maybe both sizes? One to keep it about 12" off the ground and another that has full lift?

I didn't really think it needed to be any higher, it's kinda in the best of both, not too high and not too low, also I figured that it's easier to make higher than make lower, if need be, I like it so far, but well see how it goes:cheers:

Wouldn't 2x4s or 4x4s under the stand give you the additional height?
Great Job!
If I didn't have a table lift I would build one of these today. Great idea.
Honestly the reason I bilt the thing in the first place is because I don't trust that Harbor Freight cheap ass lift to hold the bike up for very long, it's not the most stable jack around! So since I don't really want to see my bike on it's side I thought this would be a way to hold the bike up without worring that's it's gonna fall over!

Thanks pknowles, chacha, Stephen, eric and franco for the great comments! Didn't think this thing would get this much attention!

Great idea, maybe a short one with metal casters to move the bike around would be great .

Neat idea. Patent it and make some $$$ off of it before someone else does it. Like you, I do not want that HF table but I am saving for my Titan 1000 with clamp and two scissor jacks on it. The Craftsman Pro will do the lifting in the mean time...

Hey Kim, I was wondering, how do you work on the bike on one of those titan lifts? I mean you can't remove the tires/rims, etc... you know what I mean, or is there something I am missing? And yea, I probably should patent the damn thing but don't have the slightest idea on how to do that,
