Although this happenedon my American Ironhorse Texas Chopper, the Big Dog K-9 also uses the 422 progressive shocks mounted in a similar configuration.

The video shows what happened when the rear mounting shock bolt sheared off on the freeway at about 65 miles an hour!

Those bolts are a bitch and very hard to get a torque wrench on them and get leverage to get the recommended 100ft/lbs and Red Loctite. These bolts you definitely want to use on, so apply the heat when you remove them.

Glad nothing bad happened to you, it could have been a bad situation.

Always replace these bolts whenever you have your shocks off is good practice. Doesn't hurt to check the torque either at the beginning of the season.

That bolt will be a little fun to get out! Haha.
