I've read and re-read this thread several times, and nothing I can say here that hasn't been said already, but still wish you and your brother the best. I can relate a little as I spent a few days in the hospital last year after totalling my Vic. I must say, it's a little different getting back on a bike, and I'm curious to hear how it is for you when you get back on again. Makes you think a hell of a lot more, did for me at least anyway. The thoughts of what can happen at the blink of an eye. For me it's the thought of leaving two young kids behind. Shit happens way too fast!
Keeping your bro in thoughts and prayers for a fast and full recovery.

I have read this thread several times and must admit that I am at a loss for words. Thoughts and prayers just does not seem like enough to say. Ray your strength and presence will help your brother through. The bond of brothers is something only brothers truly know. There are many people here who have and would take you into their homes as a brother. If there is anything you need, all you have to do is ask.

Thoughts and Prayers. Are you Ok Ray?

Thanks all :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Again we have a great group of people here and I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.

I'm ok just bruised and sore. My brother has way worse issues and to tell you the truth I can't go see him. I was there yesterday when they moved him and he was yelling so loud in pain that it just broke me up. Again, he did this to my 25 yrs ago when he lost his leg, now here we are again.
I couldn't stop him from taking the bikes, he's stubborn.
But of my 4 siblings this brother of mine is the only one that.......... I don't know the words.
For you that are new here this is my story here and if you scroll down about 3/4 of the page you will see what this knucklehead did when he wrecked my Harley back in 85.
SOB is running out of his 9 lives!!!!!

Having just dealt with USAA they are not the same as they were once. Since the no longer insure motorcycles they sub out everything.

They now direct you to progressive if you add a new bike policy.

I never did get a call back from the inspection company on my little spill. It took three calls to USAA to get them focused on my bike. They do not see them as primary vehicles, but as toys so they assume you have something else to drive.

Ask for a rental. They seem to key off the need to get it off the clock. Take it to a shop you trust and have them fax the repair list to USAA. Get on the web and upload pictures from the accident.

I did not do it because I forgot, but ask about replacing any riding gear that got messed up in the spill.

Anyway.

Be safe and I hope all of you feel better soon.

I had read that chapter of your story, but tried to not focus on accident portion. A gruesome reminder of what can happen. Your brother should probably stay from riding, but some think they are just indestructible. My father-in-law is one also. Jet Car Bob Smith.....crashed the jet dragster 4 times. The first time spent 6 months in the Dallas Burn Unit. You would think once would have been enough. He suffers with a lot of health issues but he is still kicking....you can't throw life under the bus.

I wish your brother a speedy recovery. Again....you've got our support.

No need bro but appreciate the thought. Thanks man
Getting other emails and posts and will say again that everything is good here. Jerry is a Union worker so no problem with medical costs. And both of us had full coverage insurance.
He is in Desert Regional Medical Center in rm. 3511 in Palm Springs, CA
We brought his laptop to him so he can check email. Jerrynkelli@roadrunner.com if you would like to send a quick note.

Thanks all the concerns and thoughts. This family here has been awesome!!!!

Good to see you :D again,( might be the meds!) and great news on Jerry too. A couple more weeks lots more improvements to come. We want to the healing process to speed up or be in an instant always, but usually it is slow and steady as you go.
I understand why you couldn't go see Jerry too. I have a friend, a guy I know that got his hand caught in a piece of equipment a couple months ago and left his hand attached but badly mangled, it is just kind of there. I wanted to go see him but couldn't bring myself to go.Maybe we are scared they would see the fear for them in our faces which might add to the pain they are already having to deal with constantly. But if he called me I would run to help him, you'd do the same for Jerry. I do the best thing I know for him and his family. I pray for them "Everyday" and ask God to help them through all the struggles I couldn't even imagine. Jerry, Kelli, and Raywood are on that list now, the "Everyday" list.
A thought from the old guy that has been called stubborn, hardheaded before too. I rode horses most of my life when I was younger. They always said if you fall off or get thrown by the horse, you got to get back on "As Soon As Possible" or when you are able which ever may be the case. We rode everyday and I was tossed by bucking hores, or just fell off more than I can remember. I was even kicked by one that left me in a comma for about 4 weeks. I was slipping back to the barn and getting back on my horse if only in the barn because that just seemed like the thing to do at the time, even though if my mother had known I was doing it she would have beat me. In my old age I think it was a thing of not being so much hardheaded or stubborn as much as I was not going to let fear control me. Riding horses then just like riding these scooters we all ride now is a part of our lifes we really enjoy, it is a part of us all. I believe that is the reason we continue to get back on them, even after we have been busted up.
