Motorcycle Accident

Ray, if the front end collapsed or the accident is the result from some mechanical defect, make sure you get as much documentation as you can regarding the accident. You will want as many pictures as you can of the scene (even if the bikes have been removed) and the motorcycle itself.

Get far, medium and close up shots of the scene and the bike damage. Make notes now of everything that you witnessed before, during and after the accident. If possible, get some measurements at the scene (point of impact, gouge marks in pavement, etc.) Also, pics of your brother to show the extent of his injuries.

This info is important in the event you foresee any civil action down the road, often which can be years after the fact.

That's great advice and I appreciate it. When I called 911 three city cops and one state trooper came out along with one fire engine and the ambulance. They did take a lot of pictures of the scene and kept me there for a while interviewing me. I can take a lot of pictures of both bikes though here in the garage.

Thanks for the info cause we will be calling the insurance company tomorrow.

A picture is truly worth a thousand words! Ride safe, the process of healing gets a lot longer as we are getting older. Thanks for posting Ray, a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong never hurts.

Wishing the best for you and your brother.....Don't depend on the info an pics that the police have. Better to document for yourself in case it ends up in court. Things have a way of getting lost in the justice system.
