PY, why not try the wire swap or pull the wire and see if the noise stops. If there remains a noise, might be mechanical.

Well I kept my fingers crossed and pulled my rear plug wire. No luck. Still ticking away. So back under the cover she goes till winter.

Sounds like its on the valve train.
Try cleaning the valve tappet screen.
See if there is any metal clogging the screen.
Take it out watch for the spring clean with brake cleaner or other like carb cleaner
blow out with compreesed air.

If you have electronic compression releases you may want to check them. I had one that went bad and I would have sworn it was an exhaust leak from the sound it made.

Well, I found it.(with help from Andrew) 2008 with only 12837 miles, the exhaust valve guide on the front cylinder was worn so bad that it was smacking the bridge inside the combustion chamber. (thats excessive) removed guides to find intake side cracked at valveguide hole, T-Man here in NC said it would be cheaper for me to get a new head his machine shop was as clean as a hospital. he gets massive power from harley motors. I would love to show you the pic just cant ever post a photo. New head on order from S&S dimond cut head very hard to find in a 4 1/8 lol (it ask for my url and i dont know what that is sorry) and these are S&S rocker boxes thought they were the best...not so much
