Ive got a 05 Big Dog Pit Bull with 117 motor(stock). Was wanting to add some more horsepower to it, was wondering what would be the best thing to do to it to get the best performance out of it.

That is a big open question. Depends on how much you are willing to spend. Like you I have an 05 chopper. Our motors are held back by EPA standards. They have a smaller carb and less performance heads than other years. Also they have restrictor plates between the head and intake. Do some research and you will have your answers.

I added the S&S 600 cam with springs, on my '07 chopper.
Made a huge difference in power, and overall performance.
Makes the stock 117 feel like a slug!! :2thumbs::2thumbs:

Also keep in mind your heads are better performing than our 05's are.

Did you feel any down low loss? People claim they lose down low power with that cam.

The Super E is the cam you want for low/mid-range power, while the Super G is for top end moreso. The 585 cam is also better for the low/mid power, and the 600 for top end.A cam change will make a difference;while some not inexpensive headwork will draw out more power.

Did lose some on the low end, but the difference is at the mid where I wanted it the most to accelerate into, and away from traffic.

I performed most of the above mentioned mods on my 05 Ridgeback with modest results. It was not until I changed to the Thunderheart programmable ignition that the bike truly woke up.

I've been wanting to go to the Thunder heart, but still have the original EHC.
I'm affraid if I do it I may start to have problem's with it

BADOG,
Understand your concern, I had 16K miles on my 05 and never had an EHC problem. I don't really think the timing curve has anything to do with the EHC, and the programmable version is just a plug and play.

Would you happen to know the model Thunder heart plug and play for my '07 chopper, and who has best price to buy it?

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
I have an '08 K-9 and will vouch for the Thunderheart ignition module--set it for 32 degrees and it made a noticeable difference.
I think Blacktopper has one too..maybe he'll weigh in, as he did some engine mods then added the module.
