Ok guys, headed out for a long trip tomorrow and I need some oil...I just had my 5000 service done (400 miles ago) and am positive they put synthetic in it...I just can't remember what kind. I asked for the mobil1 20-50w for v-twins but I'm not sure if that's what it actually got. Anyway, would it be ok just top it off with that? What if they did use another brand? It was full, but then I added my K&P filter over the winter and forgot to top it off, glad I checked it. I can see oil in the bag, but there isn't enough to show up on the stick, I'm guessing it needs a half quart or so...thanks!!!!

You will have no problem mixing Mobil 1 iwht another sythetic or for that matter a regualr dino based. Especially in the small amount you are talking about.

It would be good to start doing the oil and filter changes yourself in the future to both save some money as well as insuring that you always know what has gone it.

^noted, thanks Fiber. I have the reusable filter so an oil change is now only 30 bucks for 3 quarts! I just went ahead and changed it...now I know I'm good to go. I swear, if/when I find the dude that owned that shop I'm gonna:spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank: :spank:

All packed up and ready to go! I'm stoked! First big trip with the dog :whoop:  :2thumbs:

Dude I did the same thing before bike week! After all the shit I went through to get my bike back on the road in time I didn’t think to buy extra oil!! I was about a half QT low. Got to Daytona and had to find some Amsoil. What a pain. Took half a day. Was on Beach Street at the same time Vinney and Cody where un covering their new bike. Finally found the oil half way down the street at a scooter shop!!!

Didn't HD & S&S quit recommending the synthetic oils
I don’t think it’s a recommendation thing with S&S it’s a warranty thing. BDM wont warranty if you use Synthetic but S&S does. Makes no sense I know..
