Mirrors

My next upgrade will b a set of teardrop mirrors. The question I have is will the stem bolt right up?? It appears that the brake side stem fits down into a hole about 1/2 inch or so. Most aftermarket stemms are square. I am looking for a round stem but can't find anything local. The clutch side looks like no problem cause it fits flush. Do I need adapters for aftermarket mirrors?? Thanks for the help.

BD makes an adapter...so do many others. There has been some "mixed" feelings by members stated here regarding whether or not the adapters look correct. I looked at different mirrors for a couple of months trying to come up with something-decided to use stock arms and went with large oval mirror from Aeromach. Just installed them last week. I really like them but glad I did not go with anything smaller! May have my mirror arms chopped and re-chromed to move the mirrors inward and not extend beyond handlebars. Good luck in your search.

I just put on pinched teardrops and was able to use the metric setup provided on the brake side but had to go to the hardware store for an M8 x 125 x 50 stainless in order to mount the clutch side. Hope that helps.

I called Wicked Image the other day and they do not make mirror adapters anymore and R&B was out of them. R&B took my info and said they would call when they came in.

The BDM adapters aren't to expensive but all these adapters are, are just round spacers. I bought the BDM ones but I have been considering some stainless steel pipe and polishing and replacing mine.

I would check the local hardware store to see if they carry any chrome parts. I know of two locally here that carries chrome sleeves and standard and metric bolts and nuts.

I bought mine from Big Dog, but come to find out they had them at the local hardware store. I think it was a TrueValue.

Went to Big Dog and got the adapter set and don't like the look. The spacer is round and the stem is kinda rectangular. Just doesn't look clean. Gunna take the adapter kit back and file down the stem to make it more round so it will fit in the slot. Will see if it works.
