Mileage Reset Button

Energy One

Can anyone tell me if someone sells the small rubber grommet that covers the mileage reset on the speedo? I have an '05 Pitbull. I'm using a modded generic one now and it's starting to bug me. edspesh@outlook.com. Probably have a few other frivolous questions as riding season begins out here, also. Thanks, Ed.

If you are talking about the rubber grommet button cover in the speedo lens then here is what I did. The top hat section of the button cover fell off and left the pushbutton stem (peg) exposed. Water can get into the speedo even when cover was fine because of the poor seal of the grommet to the glass. Not aware of any replacements yet.

I used a plastic "FC" type fiber optic cable connector end cover shown in the picture on the left side. These covers vary in size a bit. The O.D. varies more than the I.D. and the one I used has an O.D. that's fits well to the I.D. of the broken speedo rubber grommet after winding some kapton tape around it to help keep out rain water. Too tight of a fit and the cover (Cap) will not spring back easily.

This cover from Thorlabs might work but wouldn't know for sure until trying one.

Cool. Used to be a fiber optic tech. Wonder if the FC's have a black cap?
Yes some are black if you can find them.

I had to add kapton tape around the O.D. to make the fit to the old rubber lens grommet fit better.

Mine went bad last week. The very end came off and the little plastic plunger was shaking around in the center. I cleaned it and dabbed the lost section with Black Silicone. I just made a new cap with silicone!! Waited for it to tacked off a bit, and shaped it nice with my finger. Not perfect but functional. Works!!

Thats a great idea. mine disappeared also. I put electrical tape around the housing. Shaped it with my finger and its doable until I can find another solution. Yours may be the one.

Works fine. The little plunger is under it and resets just as it did before the rubber cap fell off.. When it first fell off, I was worried about the little plunger falling out. I put a little tape on it to keep it in place till I did the silicone trick...
