I have just done 7 days of riding loaded up with enough gear to bend an elephants knees on my 07 K-9.
This was the first serious tour other then the ocaisional weekend away with the boys.
Firstly the bike performed perfectly concidering the roads, thevaried from nice smooth surface, to sandy loam dirt, to downrite shit. These roads were like a patchwork quilt of potholes patched over the years and never done properly, add to that the fact that the road gang had just patched a couple of hundred of these with tar and loose gravel and not compacted them or swept off the excess made for one very rough and at times dangerous ride.
However the majority was done on roads that resemble Bear Tooth Pass.
I inatially had an Avon all round when i got the Dog 2 years ago, they only lasted 4000klm.
With all the talk on the forum regarding these tyres doing all manner of flying apart i did not wish to re-shoe my trusty ride with these again so i went to the Metzler.
8316klm later and the thread is down to canvas and the front has a split up the center.
Performence wise they handle well in both wet and dry BUT did not like white lines at any point.
When i read on the BDF that you guy's are getting 21,000 miles per tyre i am in amaizment, how on earth do you do that?
Other than road surface i cannot see a difference.
I am now back on Avons as that was all that was available.
Lets see how they roll.
