I’m in the don’t trust category. I just bought my bike. Don’t know all the ins and out or sounds. I’m nowhere near competent enough to go over everything myself and pretty broke(and bitched at lol) for spending the money I had on the bike so can’t stick it in shop yet. So for now I take my time and ride everyday a few hours until I am comfortable enough to do more. The event sounds awesome but after almost lost that drive pulley I’m a bit gun shy. And after I throughly looked over bike I noticed 9 bolts missing. Kinda made me nervous. I had to delete that wannabe mechanics number and address before I pick a fight one of these nights. Anyway thats just me and I just joined here and don’t have a lot of post so don’t delete me. Thanks again got the welcome and eventually I’ll get around. It sounds like a hell of a time I’ll miss coming up but idk about this bike and I damn sure wouldn’t through my wife on back. Or either of my escorts for that matter. Ha. Just kiddin. Please don’t tell my wife she scares me
I'll tell you what, we'll do a mini Gathering at my shop this winter. You , me, a case of beer, and a few friends, and we'll go over that bike and tighten it up. Keep in touch. You can get my number from Eric at HDM

One of the gatherings that used to happen almost every year was the one at Deadwood during the Sturgis Rally. I remember going there in 2005 and decided to buy a 2006 Mastiff when I got back. I continued to attend the Sturgis gathering annually up until 2010 as the gatherings were less and less people attending. Some of us got together at Galveston, San Antonio and Austin at the Texas ROT. But those gatherings also started to peter out for reasons that some could not get off work, others sold their bike because of issues and not trusting the Bike for long trips. But, some hung in there and now for Health Reason had to stop riding. I am 75 still have my bike and still attend local rallies using my Truck, I sold my Harley Tri-Glide.

I met several guys on the forum that are now gone and even dead, RIP Raywood or Raymond Atwood retired Submarine Navy Chief from Washington State. I like to read some of the issues several riders encounter and I do reply to some, but sometimes by the time I get to answering there are already 20 replies and as usual the guy with the issue never reports back to say thanks or I got it rolling. The only time they do reply is if they still need help with the same issue and never to be seen or heard from until the next year or so when their battery dies. But be what it may, If my lack of participation at the gatherings is causing heart burn I apologize for my behavior and move on if I have to. I used to give away lots of parts, new and used to those who needed them and were too broke to get back on the road. I hope that my efforts in that regard don't get over looked. Let me know where I stand.

Carlos, you were here when I showed up. I cant imagine anyone @ anytime would have any reason to question your sense of brotherhood. Like has been stated by others, there are as many reasons/circumstances as there are members. Life happens while we are making other plans. Your replies have helped me many times. Carry on...

This is shaping up to be the largest in a long long time, not sure how much bigger we can go reasonably. Ride has ready been brought up, but then it's food, water, drinks, etc. Much larger and you'd have to hire a catering service. Or go to a location that has staff. I know some other bike groups meet up or rent out campgrounds that cater to the bikers. There's one I'm aware of in Oklahoma. They have staff, little grocery store, stage, grills, smokers, bathrooms, rental cabins, RV hookups or tent spots depending on what each individual would need.

Everybody does things differently and makes their own choices for whatever reason they choose. And that's just perfect!

I prefer the smaller settings as well, geographical restrictions, bike functioning restrictions, or body functioning restrictions, or whatever the reason.

It's the same people but we have new attendees at everyone that now we can't get rid off! Haha Without the same attendees the brotherhood beyond the bikes would be devalued.

Now member count #'s. Yea it's obviously not 14000 active members and some people only get on here when they have issues could be once a year or less. I haven't logged into Facebook for probably 5 years, they don't purge accounts. What if I decide to login today? Why did they delete my shit and all my photos?

See my point, what's the cutoff? It's the internet what's on the internet stays on the internet forever.

Anyways, what I can offer you is an Active member count, so basically average number of unique users who sign in per month, might be relevant? I think a better data number for this discussion would be unique users per year however the software only breaks it up in month or day. Why I don't know.

Active users per month is about 200, on average. We can't really track the ones who don't login just search and read which is significantly higher. It's a small world after all!

Seems like lots of owners I talk to are not on anything. Many have joined but don't actively login unless they have an issue. Hell I just talked to two guys this week that I know are members of this forum and they said they knew nothing about this. Can't advertise it anymore, they said they just forget to check. Different strokes for different folks.

I agree with EZ Dog, some ppl on here were here and now are gone. And some time ago there was a falling out between a lot of members here. A lot of those ppl have turned to facebook groups, which there is a few different ones out there. I know myself that I've been told by ppl on facebook they had no idea of this forum page, I even believe I've had a few join since telling them about this forum page. But there are a lot of unused profiles on here. Like the guy with the blue bagger that installed harley bags on his, I've tried several times to get in touch with him but he's not been active in years now. I'd say 3 to 5 years of inactivity would be a great place to start, because even tho I joined in 2009, I hardly ever posted back then, didn't know who to ask what, I honestly didn't start posting and sharing my stories until maybe 2016 or so? But I was always looking and reading post and buying things here and there. Just my 2 cents on the inactive members.

For the gatherings, believe me I've so wanted to go to different ones but time off of work is limited, schedule changes at work has hindered me and yes also money/bike problems or prior commitments to other friends or events. Some of the times when gatherings are planned, they are around times of what use to be major events like Myrtle Beach Bike Week ( May and OCT) or Thunder in the Smokies (Spring, Summer and Fall Rallies). And depending on my days off without taking vacation is usually the way I go, not because I don't want to meet you guys, but mainly because my gf has to burn her vacation days to be able to join me. My work schedule is messed up 1 week I get Tues, Wed and Thursday off, the next I get Thurs, fri, Sat and sunday off, the next I get Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tuesday off, then I work Wed thru the next week till I'm off on Tuesday again and it starts all over. Not to mention I work third, so if I'm off tues, wed and thursday, I don't get off till tuesday morning at 7 am, so tuesday is spent sleeping or struggling to stay awake. But alot of the gatherings are Wed, thurs, fri, sat, and sundays from what I've seen so the way to use little vacation and come on days off are only on my thursday thru sunday weekend off, and the chances of that lining up is slim to none. But when it does line up believe me I will be there, for sure.
Signing in and reading posts should qualify your membership. Just my opinion.

I may be one of the newest member, and just bought my 08 Mastiff. I will be honest. I came here from doing a search on the internet about the bike. Since then I have asked a few questions about the bike and have had so many helping hands / guidance that has helped me tremendously. I am no where near ready to ride this dog 1500 miles at this point, but look forward to an opportunity a bit closer on east coast and meet up with some fellow riders. Been there done that, bar hopper shit. Enjoy riding a few hours to a destination, having a few, bullshitting and telling stories and then enjoy a long ride back home. Hope to meet up with ya soon, and looking to be an active member. Again appreciate all of the wisdom shared. It’s amazing what a bunch of guys can do together in a positive manner. Enjoy the weekend, and ride hard.

As I start getting out more, since the help from here got me running continuous instead of hit or miss, I will be looking for new members with dogs, and welcome any opportunity for a good ride. Knothead, I think by May I should up for a good ride like that.

I'm thinking Kieth is volunteering to coordinate the Masters Tour . (aka old farts & anyone ) . You know some of us old farts don't punch the clock anymore :) !

One or two annual rendezvous that move around the country , Make venues / locations that are accessible for those not wanting a 1200 mile trip and ofcourse anyone that don't mind traveling . Discussion on this form would help establish location(s) Venues probably should have some interesting value . Like places with motorcycle love of some kind ! . Hehehe.

May end up small but that's OK. Spread the brotherhood !

I would pitch in as much as possible .
