Medallion Speedo

Hi Guys,

So my Medallion speedo is still on the fritz, the LED screen at the bottom keeps just scrambling itself or going off completely and it is getting worse and worse. The weird thing is that on the bench it works just fine but as soon as I put it back on the bike it goes screwy again, it is also ok when it's really hot out and the sun has been shinning on the housing for a while. Go figure.

Any ideas here please? I'm assuming the display itself is screwed and it's not a wire or anything like that but the fact it works on the bench makes me wonder???

I thought that but actually vibration, bumps in the road, etc makes no difference to when it faults. And no, they don't make them anymore and indeed Medallion have even destroyed all the tooling for them or so they told me, why they would do that I have no idea but there you go.

You might try removing one circuit at a time from the unit and then try it and see if one of them is causing teh problem.
Example, remove tach feed, try it, remove speedo sensor feed try it etc.

I would also run a ground and B+ direct to it for diagnostic purposes and see what that does.

there are how to's on this site about this, you can take apart and re-solider the wires. I had to do mine years ago and has been fine for over 35000 miles. have over 40000 on bike now.

Well this kinda sucks to see... I bought one years back and it's been sitting in the box along with other parts. Trying to find a place to get it all installed now; hope there's no issues with it when I finally get around to it.
