Mean Mother question

For you guys that are running the Mean Mothers can you tell me how you like them? I know there is a few posts about the brackets and heat shields breaking. How is the performance and sound? Does the end caps hold the baffles in or are the baffles further up in the pipes? Thanks.

I run them, took out the baffles, they are mounted further in then the end caps, sound is good, not as loud as my previous Ness pipes, not loud enough for me, they came with the bike, I have a pair of Martin Bros to go on. If you want the Mothers I might sell mine.

Not sure if the Ridgeback pipes will fit on my K-9. Keep me in mind though.

mean mothers

they were on my bike when I bought it used. I removed the baffles and I'm now using the homemade threaded rings & half inch washer set-up. The biggest problem with the mean mothers that I have experienced is the vibration noise. Its pretty bad.

I have them on my 08, pulled the baffle and installed the thunder monster baffle thing. (like above its just a stem with a ring on it. Loud enough for me and the person beside me :D

Cut my baffles in half and installed the washer-welded to a bolt. Nice deep sound, good performance and I like the looks of them.

I have them on my 07 K9 that came with it when I bought it used just not too long ago. Thought I would change MM's out right away but ended up liking the looks and I think I am going to keep them (normally partial to 2 into 1 pipes for looks/performance). I know it has baffles, but not sure if they have been modified. I will have to check. I am sure removing the baffles will make it sound better, but I prefer performance over sound and it sounds fine right now. I am going to upgrade the carb and intake and see how it performs...Maybe I'll remove the baffles later, but if I do, I will definitely add the washers.

Thanks guys for the opinions. I currently have a set of Stainless Creations on my K-9 but I'm not to keen on the transmission mounting. Lot of vibrations that may end up screwing something up. I got a good dealer in Cycle City of TN and have the option of picking up a set of MMs for a good price. I'm going to jump on the deal. I see BDM doesn't list the Mean Mothers on their website any longer. Makes me wonder if they aren't carrying them any more or SuperTrapp isn't supplying.

I have the Mean mothers, and I love the sound (No baffles) but I'm not too keen on the look. I Love the Chaos III's on the other hand though. :2thumbs:
