Mastiff or K9..

I've read here that allot of folks go from a Mastiff to a K9 more so than the other way around. I'd like to know those of you who did so...what made you change for the K9?

I'm looking for a "good deal" on a used Mastiff or K9 w/chrome package but haven't ridden either one, like the looks of both favoring the K9 :)

Getting one than wishing I had gotten the other isn't a option for me $$ wise.

Thanks

Hi Rally,
I haven't owned my bike long...going on like 2 month's. Believe it or not, I went to the Big Dog dealer with my wife. I really like the feel of both bikes. Both feel really nice. The wife said I looked better and more comfortable on the K9, and after messing with both bikes for a while I decided on a K9. I too bought a used one looking for that "good deal".

I'm 6'2" and the K9 fits me awesome. I get no shoulder or back fatigue riding it, and I reach the ground great with no issues of burning my legs or anything. Forward controls feel great too.

My dealer is cool, and if you are interested will let you test drive the bikes, especially if you drive a used bike. They don't really care for letting you drive a new bike, but will if you talk them into it. I'd take a ride on both and make your decision based off that!

Rally, I'm one of those that went from a Mastiff to a Chopper. When I bought my Mastiff in 03 I was coming off owning an HD for 25 yrs. I wanted the chopper but I think (looking back on it now) that knowing I was going to be commuting 100 miles a day I should go with the Mastiff. Well that didn't work for me. Didn't like the low bars so first thing I did was put some straight up 8" Chubby's on it so I could get my arms back up in the air some. I rode with two buddies that both had Choppers and knew I should have gotten one.

In 05 BDM came out with the RSD and I really wanted that as the LSD I didn't like so much. So I bought the first one my dealer got in and it was a Chopper. Since then I've made several cross country trips and logged many miles on it and I tell everyone it's like sitting in a La z boy. Never looked back since!!!

The K-9 is the way to go.I was first looking for pro street,I rode mastiff and then k-9.The K-9 just felt more comfortable, even though its more intimidating looking.I chose the k-9,something about a chopper, pure attention wherever you go.I now own 2 k-9's.Hooked for life no going back.

It's not in Florida but call Duane at Cycle City in Tennessee and see what he can do for you. He has two used K9s on his website that are really nice. Check em out. Tell him Dan from PA referred you. :2thumbs:

What it comes down to is what's comfortable for u. Ride both then make a decision.

When I started looking it took me 8-9 months before I found a K9 at the price I wanted to pay with what I wanted on it.....Good luck and start searching... You could start at Big Dog website and search dealers by state. Chopper Exchange is a good website also, ebay, craigslist but be careful there for scams , etc: Good luck and have fun I did !!!:cheers::cheers:

I love the looks of the 9's, but I like the ride of the Mastiff. I graduated from a rice burner to my Dawg and quite frankly, I just can't stop smilin whenever I ride. It just gives me that attitude. Should have made the jump frinkin years ago. You know what though, if you want some attension probably nothin does better than a K-9.

Love my K9, but I'm probably shorter than most at 5'8'' but I'm all legs and arms - 34 inch inseam. After ridin on the K9 then switchin back to my Vrod feels like I'm ridin a toy.

I bought a Mastiff at the end of December ,so far with limited riding time,I think I`am going to really like it. I found the bike on Craigslist. Dont know how you feel about Craigslist and Ebay but look around you can find some good deals, also look on Cycle Trader
