Mastiff issue with neutral, it won't engage

Energy One
Hi,

I have a 2007 Mastiff that I got back in March, love the bike however, there is a problem with the neutral gear. When stopping at a read light or trying to park and iddle, neutral will not engage at all. It will go all the way to first and if in first gear will jump to second. The only way I can get it to neutral is when I turn the bike off.

Anybody knows what is this about?

Appreciate the input. :flag:

clutch plate grab.

1. If applies, the wave plate has too much concave or more relaxed back to memory, can't release that throw as the wave is ever so slightly moving the other gears on the other shaft. With that kind of drag, it's hard to drag the dogs out of the groove.

2. A generic warp at a plate. A quick analogy would be: This causes the same drag effect so the gear dogs are like, if you slip your sneakers on the wooden floor, that's the sort of drag happening, rather than step, whereas the step has moved away from the floor = No Friction.

You can likely get away with a minor adjustment at the slack adjuster.
But if not you will need to make a minor adjustment at the clutch rod, behind the exhaust pipe at the trans pulley cover.

My guess is your bike is fine. It is a little tricky with our bike. This is how i find neutral. when i am in second gear, i give it a little throttle while tap the gear peg lightly and it pop right into neutral. Give it a try and practice a little :).

Try giving your shift rod a little more slack. I had the same problem and could only get neutral by using my hand. I just put on a belt drive and now it's fine.
