Master cylinder rebuild question

The rubber boot that goes over the round metal rod that pushes the piston......is it suppose to be seated at the base or does it just kind of sit there on the retainer ring?

Well fuck, then whats the issue????? Did the rebuild and can not seem to get brakes back.:bang: :angry: :bang:

Just to be sure we are talking about the same rubber boot. I'm talking about the boot on the rear brake. The one on the out side of the master cylinder. Its more like a dust cover. your 04 also has differant controls than my 03

I believe it just sits there on the retaining acting as a dust cover.

The rubber boot sits into a slot in the bore. Look close, one slot is for the retaining ring, the second is for the rubber boot.

Guess the DOT 5 crap holds the air in places as I am finally getting some brake after pumping like crazy and getting the bubbles every now and then.
