Maryland State Inspection

Greetings to all Forum Members, I am hoping to find a little help from anyone in Maryland.
I just purchased a 2007 Big Dog K9 from a fellow Forum Member but would like to know if anyone knows of a GOOD place to go for my Maryland State Inspection. I contacted 2 Harley Dealers, 1 hesitated but said they would do inspection but would not do any work on the bike except for the items I already had that needed to be replaced (rubber for pegs, new mirror & baffles have to be put back in) and the 2nd gave me the: Oh yes they always have a lot of issues getting through inspection. I need to get my inspection done before my temporary tags expire but do not want to be taken advantage of or taken for a fortune $$ to get through inspection.
Anyone with a suggestion of a good and reliable place near Silver Spring would be appreciated Greatly ... Thanks

MD inspection does not involve a lot most bikes pass easily, they check for basic things like reflectors, tread wear on tires, head lights , brake lights turn signals and brakes. It usually takes less than an hour but you will probably get charged for an hour labor. There are indepentdent shops that will do it. look up C&C cycles in Anne Arundel county they used to be a big dog dealer It is about a 45 min ride from silver spring. I stopped by once and the tech on duty was very helpful with some free advice after I told him I was planning on doing the work my self.

Called C&C Cycles Before I had the bike here, unfortunately they do not do State Inspections. Looking at a place called Cycle Connection but have to call to see if they do inspections or not

Not sure how Maryland works. But here in Va I get my bike inspected at the same car tire shop that does my truck tires/inspection. I know most of the people there so I don't get any hassles.

When i purchased my bike from Seavee I took my bike to Level Garage in Harford County. It is owned by an old grumpy man but all went well. I took a dozen donuts and some coffee. The place is a hole in the wall but an inspection is an inspection.
He passed my no baffle exhaust but I had to put my stock mirrors on and I gave him a few extra dollers for some reflector tape i had to stick on until I left his lot. My horn wire broke so I just put a new connector on and I was good to go. If you need more info, shoot me a PM.

Well decided to try Old Glory HD even though did not care for Service Dept attitude on phone when scheduling. All was good until they asked about bike & I said BD K9, then the attitude came. I didn't care for the attitude, inspection is inspection & if they don't like or want to do them why do all the paperwork with the state to be certified. There should be no issues, just a couple things to be replaced ( I have items) and I believe Clutch needs adjustment. Clutch cable was replaced just before purchase of bike and may have stretched a little. Bike pulls forward when shifting into 1st and skips over neutral now. Will see how it goes next week.

Called Ram Cycle a couple days ago, Service Dept never picked up phone when they transferred my call so they took my name & number for them to call me back. However they never did and I did not call back again.

Thats just crazy dude, you get on the forum, you ask for everyones opinion, they give it to you out of experience, and yet you still are gonna take it to the HD dealer whereupon most likely you will get shafted....Wait to you see the indifference of attitude you will get when you enter a HD dealership with a BDM... good luck with all that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MD like to make a lot of things more complicated & expensive.
Cycle Connections referred me to Atco Tire up the road from them & say they are riders& good so may try to get there Monday. They do say don't do inspections if raining so have to check weather.

The inspection is only $10 in Louisiana :D and nothing gets inspected. Maybe 5 minutes if you add in talking!

Weird, no inspections in the Rain here also.

Dats a pain in the ass...I get three bikes inspected at nearly any shop/gas station here in VA and it costs 16 bucks each and takes less than 10 minutes.

Like Jimi said, never take a non-harley to a Harley Dealer and expect ANY service...they are trained to fucking hate them.

MD motorcycle inspection

I just purchased another Big Dog K9. Sold my first one several months back.
Never titled that one. Just rode on the temp til it expired then sold the bike.
I've been looking around for inspectors and not having any luck. C&C I know doesn't do them but they are great to work with. They helped me a lot with my last K9. Finally I wrote to Old Glory in Laurel and Annapolis HD and asked if they did them. They always have so many used bikes I just knew they had to do them in house. I got an email from Russell Christian at Old Glory saying they do the MD inspection and to make an appointment. I never did hear from Annapolis HD (surprise, surprise). I have an appointment for next Friday. Old Glory has worked on my Harleys in the past and I was happy to know that they would do the inspect. After reading this thread, well time will tell. When I made the appointment they asked what kind of bike and I told them. Didn't hear any 'attitude' then. We'll see. Interesting thing at the DMV, however. Tuesday when I went to get the bike titled and tagged, I was asked if the bike had been inspected. Said no but was told it would need inspection. Was told I would get a temp tag first. When I finally got to the counter I was given a hard tag! However, I was given stickers that expire next month!! Will be interesting to see how this whole thing goes down. Will update later. I'm just glad to be a Big Dog owner. Sold the other one way too early but this one looks like it's a keeper. Need C&C to go over it. Want inspection out of the way first. MD is strange about inspections. No one at the DMV can tell you anything factual about who can/does the inspect. I asked and was told that any station that has a MD Inspection Station sign can tell me who does bikes but that has not been the case. Like looking for a needle in a haystack. Small price to pay, however!

$70 bucks is crazy, then again it the Socialist Republican State of Maryland.

If I recall like $15 in WV and that was with a real insepction, not just a glance at paperwork and given a sticker.

Good luck

There is a little tiny Hole in the wall shop called Henrys that took over a vacant Exxon gas station on the corner of Old North Point Rd and North Point boulevard, where youd catch Cove rd going onto 695 I have had all my bikes inspected there..drop in the am pick up before I got off work in the pm...definately not biased in anyway.....

Well due to my schedule and all that is going on took the Dog to Hyser Cycles in Laurel because was very convenient. They do Inspections no appointment and have been around a long time. My brother got a new Yamaha Virago from them over 30 years ago. Is a Japanese Dealer so can't do regular service there but Inspection was not a big deal. Have to go back in a day or so as they had to order 2 things for me to pass. Rear tire was to worn (actually was) and LED Lights for License Plate frame as the ones on it are not legal in Md (I never noticed the lights in it were green). So before the end of the week will be done with the Maryland Bureaucracy. After Inspection to Glen Burnie MVA for either Organizational Tags or maybe order Personalized (but don't think want to pay an extra 50 a year for those on top of tag fee)
Will probably get to C & C Cycles sometime soon to have them check it out as well and do some maintenance will be time for 10,000 service...
