MARVELS MYSTERY OIL

If you are changing your oil every 2500 miles, how can the inside get dirty. back in the 70's we would run non-detergent quaker state and it would gum up in the engines but today, with the blended oils I don't see them retaining enough carbon to build up. At 2500 miles my oil is just starting to darken.:flag:
I agree...maybe there is more life left in our oil when we change it, but on a $30K bike...a $50-75 "do-it-yourself" oil and filter change is 'pretty cheap insurance' (IMO).

I use Amsoil and at $12/quart (changing it every 2500-3000 miles), I'm not going to screw it up by adding Marvels Mystery Oil...what would be the point?

The Mystery About The Mystery

:flag: I`ve been using Marvel Oil for roughly 47 or more years with absolutely no ill effect. One poster here stated he uses Lucas oil additives but that he was afraid to use Marvel Oil in his Big Dog. Duh? What? To each his own. :flag:  :2thumbs:

I have seen all kinds of additives. I was always brought up that you use a good oil and change it reguarly and you'll not need any thing else. Its just more money. I use Amsoil or HD oil. Motorcycle oil is different than auto. It has I think more zink or some thing like that in it that cars do not need or have anymore. Stick with a good motorcycle and save your money on any additives.

HAS ANYBODY EVER USED MARVELS MYSTERY OIL IN THEIR DOG. IN THE FUEL OR WITH THE OIL .Yes sir I have done 5 rebuilds on S&S motors and used myster oil to line the cyclinder walls before sitting them dowm on the pistons. Speed shop told thats what they use to build racing motors. I never added it in my bike gas but use it all the time in my Ford F150 anyway go yo there web site it will tell you how much to add.I do add a quart in my oil changes on the cars and trucks.

OVER HEARD A CONVERSATION ONE MORNING AT BREAKFAST IN A DINER. TWO LITTLE OLE GUYS PROBABLY IN THEIR 70'S. THEY HAD REBUILT AIRPLANE ENGINES MOST OF THEIR LIVES. THEY MUST HAVE MENTIONED MARVELS MYSTERY OIL AT LEAST 4 TIMES IN THE CONVERSATION. OUR 30-K BIG DOGS YEAH REALLY !

PYLOO and that other valve tick bike should run this shit. No harm no foul in both engine and gas tank. You've got nothing to lose but a tick... AND... Is MM a Myth or Magic? Only a few miles knows for sure.

I used Marvel in my cropduster's for years. Av gas and in my oil. Aero shell w120 (straight 60 weight) marvel is a transmission fluid based solvent with a few lubricative additives included. The transmission fluid base is a cleaning agent therefor freeing up carbon fouled lifters, oil passages, and generally cleaning sludge in an engine. If you have greasy hands, pour some on and it will dissolve the grease and clean yor hands. With the advances in synthetic oils and proper oil change intervals, there isn't as much need for it now as our oil is not as "dirty" as the older stuff. If I bought a motor that I didn't know much about the maintanince, I would run marvel in it for a couple changes with the intent of cleaning it out. I ran it in my aircraft fuel to keep the top ends clean. After all, a Pratt and Whitney R-1340 is just a big nine cylinder Harley motor !!! Just my two cents worth.

I blew a timing chain in a 318 mopar, bent 14 out of 16 pushrods.
replaced pushrods , two valves and fired it up.
most of the hyd lifters were collapsed/stuck .

money was tight , so instead of buying 16 lifters, I tried a quart of MMO.
15 minutes later , all the lifters built up.
Ran that engine another 50 K.
