2008 K-9 Manual page 7-6 states that part 36 is a 10-32 x 3/4" screw, it is not.
Threads are 8-32 and since the original was a slotted cheese head slotted screw, measured incorrectly (length included head height)
I replaced them with 8-32 x 5/8 socket head (same thread length as ones that was removed)
Why in the hell would you use a straight screw -- After 12years on my bike I had ti use an impact gun to remove since the straight blade was slipping and damaging the head of the screw. Now to use the impact gun, I now had to remove the gas tank.
Hope this saves someone some aggravation down the road.
