We'll, in preparing for my 500 mile trip on the dog next week to Daytona, I went to Lowes today to see what I could do. Here is what I came up with.

The threads on the throttle lock is 10/32. I grabbed a 2 inch long thumb screw to see if that would work. It did, but I was not comfortable with it. I also grabbed a knob and some nuts.

I took the thumb screw and cut the very end off. Then I took the stock spring and measured it against the stock screw then locked 2 nuts together at the same distance.

Attach the knob and your done.

It's not the prettiest but will work great for the highway with limited traffic. The great thing is once I get down there, I'll take it off and throw it in the tool bag until I make the trip home.

Clever, Mario - I was just fooling with mine tonight trying to warm the bike up, and it's just not comfortable to reach in between the throttle lines - nice alternative there.

Just got the "Thottler" from 50sboy.com. Have not had a chance to use it much yet but from what I can tell so far it is going to be great. It's a little pricey but does allow for some rest for the ole right hand on a long ride

I think the thinking...

A few suggestions... could also use a standard bolt or threaded rod in place of the thumb screw.

I hope you red loctited the knob or run a star washer and another nut against the knob so it don't rattle off or you twist it off trying to dis-engage the throttle lock.

Good job though.

Did you run it longer to clear the throttle cables? Could run it short to keep it less visable or would the cables interfere?

I made my own as a lever. Very easy to use and engage and disengage.
Here's a photo.

This slips right over the existing control knob.

I made it that long on purpose. I wanted something low and big enough that I would have no problem getting loose with my leather gloves on. The whole idea was to only use it for long trips. I tried using the stock screw once and had to change my shorts after a close call. I did not want to take any chances......

Good call on the star washer and nut against the knob to keep it from coming off.......

Looks good don... what did you use?

Mario... just would hate to see you loose the thing on the highway somewhere.

Yea Cobra, I think I like yours better if the lever stuck out about another inch.

Gas, that's another 2005 RidgeBack. Im going to put it up for sale when I get back from Daytona, around mid March. 7,000 miles.
