Hey guys waiting on some recall repairs on my truck and figured I'd share my July 4th story.
The wife and I took a ride on the Harley the afternoon of the 4th. After about 90 miles we were working our way back home. Made a stop at a restaurant to grab some supper to go. Loaded the ole lady and chicken wings and blasted off toward home. About a half mile from the restaurant we had a guy run a red light and turn in front of me at the last minute. Did what I could but not enough. Hit him in the rear quarter panel and went down on my right side. The wife spent the night in the hospital. Tore up her right hand and broke 1 finger. I spent 4 days in with a collapsed lung, cracked ribs and the usual road rash but nothing broke but my pride and my road glide. Thankful to be on that big bitch instead of the dog as I figure we would not have fared as well. Farring and crash bar helped. We are doing much better now. Still sore as hell and a sneeze will damn near bring tears. I'm 52 and this is my first wreck of any kind short of dirt bikes when I was a kid. I keep playing the scene over in my head wondering what I could have done better. I don't remember hitting the brake but my wife says I did. As they say, it happened so damn fast. I am ready to ride again and to my surprise the wife never hesitated when I asked her if she would ever ride again. Tough ol gal when your finger is going the wrong direction. Dealing with the insurance company but we'll get through it. Got my two up seat for the dog and waiting on the sissy bar. Looking for to getting back in the saddle. Please stay safe guys. There are idiots everywhere!
Now you see had you been on the Dog this would never have happened because he would have seen it as he approached and would have been in such awe and amazement that he would have swerved to miss you completely...
