Low oil

I have been having this issue for a while now and can't seem to figure out the problem, after riding for a while the bike shuts down like someone turned the switch off, I have checked all of the obvious things to check, however today I went to change the oil and it seems to be a half quart low
Could this be the issue?
Btw it is a 2004 ridgeback

A half quart low shouldn't cause the bike to shut down. More like a loose wire or your ignition switch. Lots of info about your problem already diacussed. Do a search and hopefully you can get to the root of your problem

Knows some things
A little more info on when it shuts down. Will it start right back up, or do you have to wait for it to cool? Do you loose lights, does it sputter before it dies?
And on that 1/2 at low on oil, did you ride the bike, and bring it u to temperature before changing the oil?

No it just shuts right down no sputter at all
No the bike was not warmed up when I checked the oil
Starts up after cooling down and it has had the ehc replaced with an upgraded version

Low oil wont cause it cause the 04 doesnt have a low limit oil switch.... all it has is a light on the speedo....pretty sure your cam sensor is going out by the way you describe it...also still curious what ehc you have now....but im 99% sure cam sensor is going out.....HDM has the cam sensor....call 620 680 0395 and Eric help you get one if you need it

My '07 bulldog kept cutting out also, a lot of help from this site and a lot of reading and it end up being my crank sensor. I end up ordering one from wild steed about 135 bucks takes only a second to install and that seemed to fix my problem
