Low Oil Pressure

Energy One

I have a friend that has a 2008 Ridgeback.
He just had a guy change the oil & service it.

Not long after the service his oil pressure light started flickering.
Then it stayed on permanently.

He changed his oil filter to see if it was bad.
But it is still doing it.

Anyone have any similar problems or advice on this problem?

Speedo light bad?
Oil sending unit?
Loose wire?

Thanks
Ron

Oil pressure sending unit or loose wire. I got caught in the rain once and the moisture got in the plug at the EHC and caused my oil pressure light and neutral light to come on.

Thanks rrruff.....
We will check it out.
I had read where a loose
wire could be the cause.

Probably need to hook up an
oil pressure gauge too and
see if he is getting pressure

Hey WT .... I have a similiar problem on my 08 K-9. After my 500 mile service the oil light would start to flicker at idle. But only after about 30 miles when the bike was hot and stuck in traffic. If I added about 30 rpm the light goes out. Been working with my dealer (who have been treating me really well) and they have been on the phone with Big Dog techs. They did a test by pinching off the breather from the front head, and oil light went out. recommend fix....new oil line, due to possible pin hole air leak. So new oil line and filter (just in case it was a bad filter) and the problem is still there. Next thing is Big Dog wants an oil pressure gauge put on to check psi at idle. That will be done next week or so. Will keep you posted on my outcome.

I had a similar problem as described.

Riding in 80+ heat in SoCal. Stop and go - light to light for about 30 minutes and my oil light began to blink but only in neutral and only at idle. I assumed it had something to do w/ the heat as I had never had the problem before. But I wasn't sure as I'd never sat in traffic light that before - was w/ a buddy that doesn't like to split/share lanes, so we sat in traffic w/ every other cager. Bike was running real hot - subjectively, I could feel the heat pouring off the engine.

After I got back on the highway and the bike cooled down, I couldn't get the light to come back on.

I'd been wondering if I should switch to synthetics, but not sold yet.
