The horn on my 07 Bulldog is not very loud. Anyone have any ideas for a louder horn?

JR, Good idea. I keep forgetting about that on mine too. I just think about it when I blow the horn...not often. I'd be interested in a louder horn too.

I put a horn from a 2007 sporty on mine and it wasn't any better.

But I figured out you just loosen up the nut on the back. IT will help. For some reason even on the sporty horn if you tighten it too much it muffles the horn.

On all of you newer dogs.. the horn should be behind the right side cowl under the seat.

Count me in as well.. looking to replace my horn too.. tired of it sounding like one of those little cars that the Shriners ride around on in parades.....

On my 03 Mastiff I replaced the horn with a Hella. Louder and you can get a "Hi" or "Low" tone.

I haven't done it on my Chopper yet but I imagine you would get a long more sound out of it if you just moved it from behind the cover.

On the 03 they are mounted under the oil bag on the tranny cross member.

But here are a bunch of options.

Mine is behind the battery box covers which muffles it ... I have one my from Fat Boy I will try. Gotta be careful hitting the horn in FL, scare the gray hairs and who know what they will do!

I think that the placment of the horn is most of the problem. Sometimes I think I'm the only one that hears it.

The only GREAT option is to get a hella or some type of electric "air style" horn.

Hey Vicki,

This sounds like a mass buy from a lot of us, if you can research and come up with a loud horn that will fit the BDM's. It's simply a 12 volt horn with probably a standard mounting bracket.

Mine has the push on standard auto connectors.

I like your idea seatmaker, I thought of that too but don't know how to hide all the horns. My brother had one on his pickup, it was a real attention getter.

If anyone comes up with something reasonable I would be in...tired of sounding like the roadrunner when I hit the horn button on my chopper. EMBARASSING!

Sorry Chopper Dave, didn't realize some could not access that site any more. GM, there are 8 pages of posts under this topic, do you really want me bring all those over here? The bottom line is that Sibel makes an air horn that is loud, compact, much deeper tone, and works very well, I have had it on my 05 chopper for over 2 years now with no problems. Also there are many chrome ones now on the market that are identical to it in the new 2008 J&P catalog, J.C. Whitney and most other recent aftermarket motorcycle catalogs. I mounted mine in the area between the swingarm frame tubes with a small bracket attached to the passenger pegs. Just make sure that wherever you get it from that they include a relay to convert the low BD voltage to the 12v battery source. The wiring instructions from Sibel were pretty straight forward but if anyone needs help just drop me a pm and I will do my best
