Turned the key on and I guess it wa half way but the bike started and I never realize that it was only half on, but he real story here is that I started the bike and went down the road when I got to the destination I went to turn the bike off and the key was gone has anyone ever had this happen and how do I get a new key for the scooter

I thought everything was ok but hell no the key fell out on the way to the house... ???? bigdogmac

Hey Mac...Sorry to hear about the key, but when you do get a new one, check this pic. It how most of the riders here protect their keys.!!! A very simple fix.!!!!

What Old Hippy said. You can do it with BD schwag too (what I use):

They come in red, gray, and black. Can't go wrong!

Old Hippy with a nice quick fix. FYI....just don't use a 'pink' one --- unless of course it's breast cancer awareness week!

I hear you can contact your dealer and they can order another key from the puppy farm using the numbers on the switch or from the Vin #. Give that a shot. I was going to order another key, but decided to go to a local locksmith.

Ramfl41, you monitor may need some color adjustments. My key securement device is purple, not pink.!! And main thing is....it works.!!!!

All we need is the four character code at the end of your lock and we'll be able to get a replacement made.

As in K9Gary's post on this a week or two ago it may be faster for you to just order a new ignition since yours doesn't keep the key in it anyway.
Supposedly the newer ignitions hold the keys tighter. Lost a couple with my 03 myself.

Talked to the bBDM service guys

They said they don't make replacement keys for that year (2000 Pro Sport) I would have to geta new ignition, called the local BDM folks and they said I would need a new ignition also and they had it for $ 20.00 that beats getting a key made for 40 anyway learned a hard lesson, now I have a error sign on the odometer it shows me miles on the odometer but only in hundreds, not the 16,000 I have it only says 783.2 but it has a error code prior to the miles read out not sure how to get the odom to read my miles again ????:job:

I guess we should state we are talking about "Ignition" switch's not the Ignition module itself! You know someone would ask!!!! :D

Mac, tell us more about your speedo. Maybe someone on here can help you out.

Another round please
I went to the BDM dealership and they said a new ignition switch, not module, is $70 bucks. I ordered one. I may get it free when I give them my project # though as he said it may be a recall item.
