Lost Clutch

Need help troubleshooting my clutch. 2008 K9. I was riding home yesterday and noticed I was having trouble shifting and my clutch was loose. I pulled over and adjusted it on the cable to where it was pulling properly. AS soon as I started going it went loose again. Pulled over and adjusted it again. Stop at a light and pulled the clutch in to shift to first and the whole thing went soft. my lever went to my handlebar with no resistance. I'm not sure if the cable broke somewhere or what. I can pull on the cable at any given point and it will move about an inch. For example where the cable goes into the lever I can pull on the cable and the housing will actually come out of the lever. Any Ideas? I'm hoping it is just a broken cable, but I haven't dug into it yet and was hoping to get some ideas where to start.

If the cable isn't broke, check the nut on the clutch hub. If the nut backs off the clutch will go out of adjustment. If it backs off far enough it will screw up the splines on the trans main shaft.

That sounds mighty familiar and in my case it was the trust bearing. Open your primary, unless you determine it is your cable, and you'll find it easy to repair. Cable can be had from Curtis WSW on here and I bought an updated bearing setup from Baker. No biggie and a good opportunity to check your hub nut as well as a good clean up of the clutch.
