Lost a good friend Monday

I guess I will never fully understand the insidious hold alcohol/drugs have on someone with the disease....alcoholism....even though we are active members of AA. I never drink in the presence of my wife. I will have an occasional beer away from home on a bike trip. We live with this disease and have only survived it, but also know there is no cure.

A very good friend of mine lost his fight to stay sober a year ago, after 6yrs. of sobriety. His 18yr marriage unraveled 3 months ago. We will never know what caused him to take his own life. What we do know, is my friend attempted to overdose and when that failed, he hung himself. I wish I could have saved him. If you have someone close to you with the problem.....please pay close attention....watch for the signs.....ask for help.

We will miss Luke

Coach, that is sad and an un-necessary loss. I battle the bottle also.

Sorry to hear of this.

I had it happen with my own Grandmother. Everybody was in denial and it ended her life. To this day I wish I would have pushed someone or myself to help her. I know the feeling coach....sorry
