loose idel and throttle cable at handle bar control

service manual said when installing idel and throttle cables at handle bar control to install ferrules over the cables after installing cables into control, I see no ferrules or can figure where they go. both cables are loose and can be pulled out of the handlebar control. What am I missing. Working on a 2008 Pitbull.

The cables have a little c clip on the ends. That clip holds them in the controls themself. Then at the end of the cable there is a ferrule that goes on the cable end and slide into the throttle tube. Curtis sells the ferrules and probably the clips

Mike, I thought there was a small wire clip that held those in. Mine have been gone for years I just tighten the cables up at the adjustment threads and they stay in just fine. Hope this helps.

probably the ferrules are missing if that is what keeps the 90 degree end of the cables tight in the control housing, Thanks for you help, guess I will call on Curtis again for parts.

Mike, you need the clips not the ferrules.

The clips are installed on the cable but when you push them into the housing it keeps the cables from falling out. The ferrules are on the very end of cables attached to the throttle tube. Sounds like you just need the two little c clips

If I am understanding you Tyler, the clips install between the metal L tubes which go into the ahndlebar control. so there is no need to split the control and install aanything from the inside of the control, Thanks for you help

I highly recommend you split your controls and remove the clips before removing the cable.
If you pull the circlip through the housing you widen that opening just a little bit each time.
Pretty soon the only way to keep them up is by taking all the slack out of the cables or switching to a threaded end and tapping the hand control to accept it.
For some having no slack is fine but for many it is not a good idea as that little bit of slack helps keep you from inadvertently cranking on the throttle and losing control.
