Looks like another belt drive maker for our bikes.

So, I have read BDL, Karata and Baker seem to be the tops in the open drives. What are the plus and minus to each. I love the blower sound. Opinions based on facts would be helpful. I noticed size differences from 3 to 4". Thinking of getting one for my 04 mastiff with a 107".

Open Belt Drive

The pros out weight the cons in my eyes...:2thumbs:

Pros:
1) No more primary cover to pull
2) No more drive chain adjustments
3) No more primary oil changes
4) Easier/quicker clutch removals
5) Sounds great
6) It's just bad azz!!! :D :2thumbs:

Cons:
1) If you're still living in the 70's you might get your bell bottoms caught in the belt (But you can buy a forward guard with the kit to prevent that) so the only con is a little more money.
2) If you have big azz feet like me, the back of your boot may rub on the forward pully and create grind marks on the back of your left boot. I don't care because my heel rests on top of my foot peg so it happens every once in a while. If you have extended controls you wont have this issue. I'm short statured.

Well there goes me and my slective reading... :D I've heard good things about BDL for your year model. I'm not positive, but I don't think Karata has an open belt for 04 models. You can always call them though...:2thumbs:

I thought about calling them and baker to see if they have one for my year. Ive read some people swear by one over the other. But, nobody gives valid reasons why.
