Looking for stock chrome heat shields for Kerker exhaust 2004. If I find some that are better than what I have, it would save the re-chroming hassle.

I took several pictures, but it's hard to photograph chrome. Mine aren't in as good of shape as I thought they were any how. How bad are your?

My heat shields are pretty grungy...I had a black plastic bag gust up as I drove by and it stuck right to the hot pipes. I reached down and pulled the bag off but what plastic that stuck to the pipes, seems to be "engrained" into the metal. I bet I have spent hours and a can of polish trying to get it back to chrome. I will try to get some pics also. Maybe your shields are in better shape... Thanks for the replies!

WD-40 and aluminum foil. Wad the foil in a ball and use it like a scrub brush. The foil is softer than the chrome so it won't scratch. If the don't work I'll trade you pieces.

Will give it a shot. I will try and take before/after pics to show the technique results too. Thanks for the idea as I forgot about this trick.

Foil & WD40 did not work, gave it 45 minutes of constant rubbing and it showed close to no result.
I am thinking re-chrome or swapping them out is going to be only way to go, damn.

I've had good luck with oven cleaner I'll soak it on a rag and let it sit on the pipe for 5-10 minutes.

Sometimes I gotta use my fingernails ...it's a bitch

I know you said you tried polish, but did you try polishing compound and a buffer? Not rubbing compound, but polishing compound:oldconfused:
Yup, it did not cut it...

Tried the oven cleaner, it worked the best.

They are not perfect by any means, but better.
Thanks for all of the input!
