I am interested. Can you post some pictures?I have quite a few D&M custom cycles spikes and mounts from when they used to make them. These are the nice ones, expensive, but high quality USA made, made in Minnesota. I haven't ever put one on an EFI but I can't imagine they wouldn't work being that the same bolt patterns are used, maybe longer bolts and spacers would be needed, don't know for sure.
Anyway if you are interested just let me know.
They may look good…but that’s about it.Sure, here are some examples of 3 different styles.
- Chrome 360 slots spike
- Chrome 360 slots bullet nose
- Flat black 180 slots spike
Along with the mount bracket for the S&S carb.
I bought a S&S Dual runner from JP Cycles that was for EFI. The mounting pattern was definitely different and wouldn’t work with my Super G. Probably could have been modified to work but I was able to find one exactly the same but the carb model mounting plate.I have quite a few D&M custom cycles spikes and mounts from when they used to make them. I had the spike on my other k9 ( carb model) and it worked fine. Had plenty of power and run good. Now I can’t find one for any model other than the one cr389duce has. I would prefer the dual runner but finding one is the problem. Hopefully the spike will work ok on a EFI bike. Mick, I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same on the efi as it is carbs. They both use the same backplate on the teardrop air cleaner. Was it something to do with the breather system maybe? For instance, a 107 couldn't use this backplate because it uses the bigger head breathing bolts, and this backplate has narrow slots for non-head breathing bolts. I'm not doubting you, I'm just trying to learn so I have a better understanding.I bought a S&S Dual runner from JP Cycles that was for EFI. I think the bolt pattern is the same in both. The difference is the throttle body on the EFI sticks out further than the carbMick, I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same on the efi as it is carbs. If that is the only difference, then all you should need is spacers.I think the bolt pattern is the same in both. The difference is the throttle body on the EFI sticks out further than the carb
That’s the plan at least. I’m hoping for the bestIf that is the only difference, then all you should need is spacers.
Yes. It’s been a couple years since I messed with the intake on the ridgeback but there was some difference in the head bolt connection and definitely the air passage would have needed alteration to work correctly. Like I said it might have worked with some alterations but I wasn’t inclined to take that chance. I just returned it and found the one I needed. The bolt pattern is the same for super g and efi...same backing plate...they based the efi 3 hole bolt pattern the same as the super g 3 hole bolt pattern where the back plate goes to the carb or efi...
The efi sticks out about a 1/4 further than a super g...if you use a super g intake adapter on a efi all you need is more spacers to make up the difference...
Now with that said on efi versuses the carb they do have one small difference and thats where it bolts to the heads...efi has 5/16 bolts and the super g uses little bit bigger bolt...its a 3/8 or1/2 best off my memory.. might be a 7/16 i can't remember...but either way it's the same wtth some minor modifications it will work.
Putting a Efi on a carb is little harder because of the head bolt holes but I have installed them...actually 4 of them...I slotted the hole bigger for the bigger bolt...also putting a efi on a carb there is a problem with the air passage will have to be machined to adapt the efi to a carb...ole blue has a efi s&s tuned induction on it...been on there for years...
But we are trying to put a carb model on a efi which is alot easier...like I said it will work just needs more spacers...also put a vent cap on the back of the adapter plate to plug the hole so not to suck dirt in...easy peasy job...
I had spoke with blow years ago. They use to offer a chopper style exhaust, but because of legal issues with a certain exhaust maker for our bikes they stopped that line. Seems someone was buying that exhaust, welding his initials into it and selling them as him custom design. This person suddenly went out of business or seemed he had, his website is still up and he claims he is coming back. But we have yet to see it. even tho I've talked to him several times on the phone, fb messenger and text messages. The woman I spoke with years ago from blow even sent me emails with details about who they were in court with. I think I posted it on here years ago...Today I got a response back from blow exhaust directly only to be informed they offered nothing for my “style” bike yet Barnes performance has it just in the wrong finish. Go figure
I'm pretty sure I have a Bigdog Velocity Stack air intake with the 90 degree elbow. I'd have to go digging around but I know I have the mounting brackets for both EFI and Carb. I originally bought a spike for the 06 Mastiff (carb), then got the velocity stack (installed on Mastiff) and moved the spike to the 2009 Bagger after ordering a bracket from donna (efi), then got a S&S dual runner for Mastiff, moved velocity stack to bagger and sold spike with carb set up I believe. Put a RSD intake on bagger with an adaptor plate, and boxed up the velocity stack with efi brackets. If your intentested let me know and on my next day off I'll go looking for it.Is there nobody on that has an EFI dog that has a spike air filter?
Thanks for the offer. I’ve already got the spike otw. If this doesn’t work out I will definitely be reaching out to you.I'm pretty sure I have a Bigdog Velocity Stack air intake with the 90 degree elbow.
