Looking for some help, Carb Tuning

If I have a strong point, carb tuning isn't it. I have replaced my E carb with a G. I am currently running 32 intermediate and 78 main, with a S&S dual runner intake breather and V&H 2x2 exhaust. Starts good, runs great with exception that while running, pulling hard in any gear mostly 3,4,5 there is a slight hesitation when rolling the throttle on aggressively from 2500 rpm and up and not quite as bad 3500 rpm or higher. Seems to be at the transition between intermediate and main jet kick in. I have tried a 33 intermediate and runs like crap and can't adjust it out. I went froma 76 main to a 78 no noticable change. I have adjusted the air/fuel and the accerlator pump. Any suggestions?

Number 8 on the carb tuning guide sounds mostly like what I am experiencing. It has a flat spot/or hesitates when I roll the throttle on around 50 mph. I think I will play with the main jet air bleed #13 on the diagram. Thanks franco!

Open up the air bleed until it goes away. Make sure the bowl vent is pulled.

Carb tuning tips:

-When in doubt always go leaner, a lean condition is much easier to identify than rich
-The bulk of problems are caused on the intermediate jet, always start from there
-Always make bold adjustments then fine tune from there
-Tune with the accelerator pump off

Ok, pulled the bowl vent screw, put larger jet in the air bleed was running a .040. Did carb adjustments as noted. Will go for a test ride tomorrow afternoon. Still running .078 & .032 intermediate & main. Thanks for the help guys.

S&S recomends a .048 next. The closest I had was a .068, so I put it in to see if there is a difference.

Good to hear :2thumbs:

I have read that the guys with xXx Carbs do run big (.060 +) Air Bleeds.... maybe 0.048 it is still small?

I would like to see more people stating about their Air Bleed in this thread WHAT JETS DO YOU RUN
