Looking for place to buy fluids

Planning to change oil, primary, and trans fluid soon.

Was targeting:
Royal Purple FS 20W50 for the engine
B&M trick shift for the primary
Spectro FS 75/140 for the trans

None of these are available at the local auto parts stores and didn't see fluids other than DOT5 for brakes at WSW.

I assume there is an online source but before I start looking on my own was wondering where everyone on here goes to get all their stuff hopefully in one place at reasonable prices.

On a side note, those of you who've tuned/modified Porsche/Audis, you're probably familiar with ECS in Ohio? Prices are a little high but they sell pre-assembled"kits" for year/make/model that are well worth the extra cost since quantities are measured and has everything at once.

For example, let's say I logged into WSW and selected BDM 2005 Chopper, then I could buy a Primary Oil change kit that would include:
- Recommended fluid in the amount needed.
- Inspection cover gasket
- Drain plug seal
- Liquid teflon

I doubt anyplace online is doing that for BDM but I'd settle for getting all my fluids in one place then going to Home Depot for the liquid teflon then ordering the rings and gaskets from WSW

Mobil1 engine oil and K&N oil filters are available at WalMart and auto parts stores here. I had to pay extra at AutoZone when WalMart was out of stock last time. That stuff is heavy and bulky, so shipping makes it expensive to order online. But oddly enough, nobody stocks primary or trans oil. Quite the mystery to me since the same folks buying those K&N oil filters need the other half of their fluids every time.

It is annoying how expensive it is though. Fluids and filter for a full 5k change cost me $100. Am I'm still doing the work !! Throw in at least $500 in tires per year and you're spending $50-$75/mo just for the most basic consumables.

But nothing this cool would be cheap would it ?

I read a post from Mr. Wright and decided to try Shaffer engine oil. It runs fine in my K9 and I think it quieted down the noisy tappets in my Bulldog Bagger. I think it is just as expensive as Mobil1. Shannon hooked me up with his distributor who was happy to give me a discount.
My oil filters are all re-usable so no cost there (except for the $150 purchase).
I always used Spectro in the transmission, but when I bought this K9 from Trainman, I followed his lead and use Red Line (extra heavy). It is about $20/qt.
I have always used ATF in the primary. About $4-5.
I agree with Brent nothing this cool is gonna be cheap.
Use cheap oil in these machines at your own peril.

Mobil 1 in all my bikes....ive have run Shaffer oil in my 383 stroker motor jet boat before but i run valvoline 20 50 racing oil in it now...several years back i runned it in my old 903 cubic inch pro mod, which i dont have it anymore cause.of the 2008 recession ...i like the stuff pretty good....Shaffer is good oil to me but valovine was easier for me to get

I don't know about the tranny fluid. Some people do use it though. I just use 20-50 Mobile 1 in everything. Now I know some will say the synthetic will mess with your clutch. I haven't had any problems. I guess I just like not having to buy three different kinds of oil. I guess it's all about personal choice.

I tried the ATF in the primary. Did not work for me and the 04 Pit. Spectro in trans, Mobil 1 in motor and standard HD primary fluid.

That's a pretty good price. Says free shipping during the crisis, so not sure what it woudl've been otherwise. Not sure about semi-synth motor oil either...........I like the hex nut on the K&N oil filters too.

Barnes is one of the best wrenches you’ll find—-he rebuilt my K9 transmission—pricey, but it was bulletproof and shifted like a Honda 350......
If you are changing the engine oil at 2500 miles consistently (I change the trans and primary @5,000 miles), you can’t go wrong. Also—the purpose of the oil in the primary is to lube the primary chain—that’s why we can get away with using the cheaper ATF oil.

Interesting point Rick.

I figured a mere 2500 miles on engine oil makes sense because its air cooled and has to crush the oil. I figured such short duty cycle on the primary oil was due to the same thing with the clutch, including the guaranteed particles from the clutch since it's a consumable part.

But why is tranny fluid recommended to change so often ? Its just like a car, where the trans is isolated from any other system. Why doesn't it last for 10s of thousands of miles ?

You’d think...
Andrew Barnes explained to me that BDM did not upgrade the transmission bearings in our older bikes, so many have had to replace them (transmission bearings), especially those who have modified the already powerful engine. I ride pretty hard (not abusive), and wound up getting a Bandit clutch too.

I run Amzoil V-Twin for the motor and Harley Davidson blend for the primary and transmission.
