I know I haven't posted my intro, but I am an old member that forgot my user name and password so I re-registered.

What I want to know is if any of you Dog Lovers have a source for older parts now that Big Dog is defunct.

In particular I am in need of a new gas tank for my 2001 ProSport, tank liner coming apart and cost is too great to re-line, $700 dollars as I have read.

My bike has been nothing but a heart ache since I got it and has been apart for about five years, hell it only has 1400 miles on it mostly driving (when not being towed) to and from the various shops for it's various problems.

This is a subject I could go on and on about this http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/images/smilies/11.gif, but I am a true Dog Lover and I will not let this machine beat me.http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/images/smilies/15.gif
In the meantime I will post an intro so no one gets offended or disrespected.
Thanks

Because you have a older dog you might want to check out the Harley dealer for some of the parts you need. Not sure if the gas tank is compatable with a Harleys though, might want to search Ebay or Craigslist. Shovelheadkicker on Ebay may have a tank for you, suggest you contact him and see, he might be able to point you in the right direction. It's worth a try...:2thumbs: By the way welcome under the new name...:D:cheers:

Justintime,
Thanks for the info, found Shovelheadkicker on Ebay. Nice selection of parts but only tank was for chopper style. I will contact him to see if he has any other tanks.
Can you tell me if you know how to search the forum for key words?
I would like to search for others who have had tank liner problems and how they fixed them. Thanks for the repl.

There are many of us that have had tank liner issues on this forum. Some have replaced the liner, and some have not. I opted to not redo my liner and haven't had any problems since not doing so. I'm sure I'll have some issues in the long run but many dealerships that I've talked to told me not to worry about it.

Just make sure you clean your tank out good if that would be an option for you.

Thanks for the advise. Frankly I want to thank you all for your input. It seems I have a direction regarding my tank issues. shovelheadkicker on Ebay has contacted me and he has all I need for my dual tanks or I can convert to the 2002 single tank and he has all I need to make that conversion.
Once again thanks to all who replied to this thread and all the good Dog Lovers on this forum.
I will get back to this thread after I have more info from shovelheadkicker.

I know there have been tonS of big dog owers with the same problem I have had
Gas tank liners. Use the Caswell kit. Run a fuel filter .

I had a shop tell me I have a rod bearing going. Two other shops said it sound good. Is there a good shop in lower. SW mich that can tell me what's up. 18000 miles on the bike.
