looking for cross references on parts

i got a 2004 mastiff i was wonder if there is a specific year and model harley that uses the same starter, ignition coil, volt regulator, stator. i am trying to figure out if i breakdown on a long trip would a harley dealership be able to service the bike so i can get back down the road or do i need to figure a way to carry spare parts.

In my neck of the woods , if you stop in for help at a Harley Dealer for help they will send you on your way.Plan on being able to fix it your self or try an independent shop. The independents seem much more willing to help.

Thanks road rider it seems like that every where but that is why Iam asking cause I figure if I could walk in and say I need a starter for a 2004 fxr and it is the same starter that would be used on the big dog I get the part put it on my self trying avoid the it ain't hd bs. The independent shop usual don't stock part because they never know what they are going to work on. And when traveling you know the reputation of the shops out there.

Perform a good service before you go. Check everything over and go have fun. If by chance you have an issue find an indy shop and get er fixed. Most places will be able to have parts next day.

And some HD dealers will actually help u out. I had a very good experience at Shenandoah Harley-Davidson, Staunton, VA there were three guys helping out with tools and such just blew me away...Mad Dog can verify he was with me..

Not trying to jack the thread but"Shenandoah Harley-Davidson, Staunton, VA"bailed us out when the rear pulley came loose on my wifes 2011 heritage(whole different story). It was a Sunday afternoon right at closing when I finially got up with them. They sent a truck and trailer out and picked her bike up, took it to their shop and to make it short, took the rear wheel assembly off another heritage and got her going. Great people. The following day I got a call from them wanting a shipping address for my old parts. Great people with great service.

again thanks reply. but i was wondering if there is a harley model that uses the same parts. I used the long trips as an example of why this info would come in handy. as I'm searching to buy parts locally, alot harley dealerships in my area. and I'm trying to learn as much about my bike as i can.
