I have an 04 Ridgeback and really enjoy it. I have already changed the ech out for the wire plus and installed the different switch that Jake said it needed with the wire plus. If the wire plus is already installed on it and you check the other fine points like was it taken care of basically, serviced records, etc, is it clean or does it look as though it has been cleaned up to get rid of !! Does the rear tire look like it is used for burn outs! Take the seat off it and look in those places where it might not ever get cleaned up, look under it and see if it is nasty. Does the battery look as though it is very old, and taken care of, is there a tender close by! It should start up after twisting the throttle 8 or 9 times, the choke all the way up, about 3 0r 4 times turning over.( Check to see if it was started before you got there, I would want it cold) It should be loud, loud is good, is there any weird noises. Take it for a ride , take it easy turning out the driveways as you throttle it up until you get it headed straight, easy to drop till you get used to it. When you throttle it, hang on it should/will get down the road. Oh, unless it is perfect shape in all aspects, like show room clean, offer a little less.
It will get around 120 miles to a tank of gas, at 120 miles your butt will be ready for a break as well, not bad riding, not certainly not a trail bike. Pot holes will jar your teeth out, but you will learn to watch for rough spots in the road. As far as I can tell, there are not sissy bars available anywhere. The 2004 Ridgeback is a thrill to ride. The 107 will get down the road too! Oh, at 8000 miles it should be ready for brakes if it has not already had them replaced. The rocker boxes seeped a little on mine but was an was easy fix. I don't ride in the rain and mine is in the garage covered up to keep dust off it. Where ever you park it you are always seeing people taking pictures of it. If it is in good shape he will certainly enjoy it. I can't think on anything else I would want to ride. It is like an old hippys rocking chair, and I might ressemble that remark too. :2thumbs:
