OEM manual says to put red locktite on the crank pulley. Torque to 150-165 ft-lbs - red loctite 2760.

yes sir...thats what i had to do...got it off but i dont think ill use but a few drops next time...i had to heat the shaft and basket way more than i wanted to to get the heat down the shaft....actually worried that i might have weakened the tranny shaft.

I used a gear puller.

I put the nut on the end of the shaft with room for the puller to work.

Screwed the puller to the inner basket

I braced the center puller screw on the hub nut with a big fender washer to protect the seal on the nut.

Start cranking.

I had to pull mine over 3/8" to get the red to let go.

First idea was dead blow hammers, prying and cussing.

Second puller idea was more productive. :hi:

I am not sure why BDL says to red loctite the splines, but it sure make it a pain to get it back off.

Also, the reason I had to remove mine was that the three screws that hold down the washer wore down.

I was told later that the basket needed shims from the back side to the bearing to keep this from happening. that was a pain to get the right number, but it has kept the basket hardware from eating itself on the hardened washer.

I rented a harmonic balancer removal tool from auto zone. Worked perfect for the clutch basket. Had to buy 3 longer bolts to use it on the crank pulley. Didn't use any heat. Just went really slow and it came off easy. I did happen to break my front pulley tho. Auto zone does have a different kind of puller that they rent out. It has 3 hooks or claws that grab onto the rim of what ur trying to pull off. DO NOT use this type of puller. It broke off a chunck of the lip from the front the crank pulley. That cost me 110 bucks. Just to be for sure on the front pulley do I use red loctite on the shaft or just the nut? Also I don't have a torque wrench so can I just tighten the hell out of the nuts with an impact? Has anyone heard of putting rtv silicone on the dogs to help quiet the clutch plates from rattling?

I would not loctite the front splines. Different type of splines.

Never heard of using rtv on the basket. I would say no to that, too. Surely it would end up on the friction material and contaminate it.

I wouldn't put loctite on the splines either and just a drop or two should do the trick.
