Why this over the WirePlus?
No particular reason. I just wanted to go with what Big Dog came up with to see if it fixes issues that may arise from the old EHC. Also like the idea of being able to do so without having to cut off connectors and relanding new ones with increased chance of getting a bad conectors or one that is loaded into wrong hole of the connectors.

Niether one is the perfect fit as far as ease goes. The PDM required installing a whole new wiring harness while the Wire Plus requires one to cut out the old plug and then installing very small pins onto the wires, installing them into connectors and putting it all back together.

Install time may be less for the PDM, but not sure. Cost is about the same.

Wire Plus has been installed on a few and does not seem like to many issues, however there seems to be a few that have had some with relays for the hand controls. PDM is unproven at this point, may be a POS or may be solid, will see-only time will tell.

So personal choice I guess, then again why WP over PDM would be a fair question IMHO.

If your old EHC is still going strong, stick with it and honestly think most have held up in reality. Still with BDM no longer making motorcycle and who knows how successful BDPP will be, future options if the EHC goes down could be limited. I decided to go with the PDM to see if it works and possibly never have a future issue. I did keep my original EHC in case it does not work and can always go back if it fails.

To each their own choice for it does not matter to me. I get nothing off either one and do not sale any of them, just use them.

FYI, there is nothing wrong with my EHC but I bought the WP system via the Group buy as a back up. I hope it sits in a box with all the rest of the spare parts for a long long time!

Actually the WirePlus makes one very important upgrade. You start the engine without the lights on. You would be surprized how strong the engine will turn when the battery is not powering the lights at the same time as the starter.

The kill switch and hi/lo beam act as push toggles not two pole switches with WirePlus, which is easier with gloves on.

The WirePlus actually simplifies the bikes wiring as all of the EHC wires that wer just pass throughs are now jumpered. Its all very well though out.

Makes you wonder if BDM have designed the wiring WP style the first time would they still be in business?

I like this also :2thumbs: I did this a few times on the colder days...but then again, I am also running the TR Battery which is 465 cca's...40 more cca's than the Braille! The 2 position key is great!

Again...Nice write up Tim! :2thumbs::cheers:

I'm still have the original battery and with wire plus the bike turn over way stronger than when I had the EHC, even with the light on. When I had the EHC I need to keep the battery in a tender charger all the time now don't need to do that anymore even if I don't use the bike for a couple of weeks it turn over strong.

Good to hear, though I am on my 3rd battery in 6.5 years and probably would have still been on my 2nd if I did not have a short a couple of years ago on the power harness going to the EHC.

Never had a problem starting or turning over the bike. I do keep it on a battery tender, but when I was at home I had gone weeks without doing such and it started right up. Still for protection and just the hell, my wife rotates the BT between all the motorcycle for a week at a time while I am away.

Oh also, there is many batteries out there and to each there own, but to be truthful, the last time I lost a bettery (due to short on the power harness), I pick one up real quick at Walmart (one of their EverMart or whatever they call it), maybe not the greatest, but so far it has held up and only cost me around $70
