little puffs of smoke

One of the guys at work mentioned that he saw a little bit of white smoke come out my pipes the other day as I left work. I have been trying to catch the bike doing this but couldn't seem to duplicate it. Well, today I did see it puffing. It puffs a bit after I rap the throttle and the rpm' are comming back down. I used to have the line in the forward cylinder breather that goes into the manifold blocked off and took it out about 2 years ago. It only puffs after the bike is good and warm, say, after a 20 mile ride or so.

So, do you guys think I should block it back off or could there be something else causing this? Thanks! Marc

Could be the humidity in the pipes steaming out on startup. Or rich condition with unburnt gas smoking in the pipes. Try simple carb adjustment and see if this fixes the problem. There is a plethora of reasons this is occuring.

Another round please
I thought white smoke is oil burning. Usually oil in the cylinders caused by bad valves guides or piston rings. Just my 2 cents.

I put the blocker back in the front breather line and so far not a hint of any smoke, of any kind. I'll keep watching it for a while. I will probably be able to ride tomorrow but that hurricane off Texas is probably going to bring storms to Oklahoma on Thursday.

No sign of any smoke today. I may have found the culprit! I blocked off the front breather line and that is keeping the oil outa the cylinders. Plugs look perfect but pipes have a bit of soot in the tips. I'll watch for a while.
