I think this sale happened several years ago and has been posted three times that I can remember. If you download the inventory sheet you'll see its "created" date (5/19/08), "last saved" date (6/19/08), or in the sheet itself there is a column that says "Remaining 6/19/08"...

This auction actually happened this past summer! I received notification that it was happening but I was out of state on business. Sure wish I could have went though. I'm sure shovelheadkicker made that one...

A liquidation sale that went on for years?

Seems like the sale that happened last Summer would have been to liquidate Big Dog since it was out of business where the sale talked about in the original post happened before they were out of business to raise cash and reduce old stock.

I could be wrong but, bottom line, the sale is over... :(

Seems as we get older remembering becomes difficult, so I asked the Q of Liquid Asset and here is the reply:

=====================================
Sir,

When did the Big Dog Motorcycles liquidation take place and end?
RE: http://liquidassetpartners.com/liquidation219.html
This is being circulated again on some forums as there is still items to be had in this sale. I am seeking accurate info to set the record straight on the www.bigdogbiker.com forum.

It looks like this auction was several years ago and is "sold out'.
I appreciate your time and response on this.

Thank You

W...,

Good to hear from you. We did a liquidation for them just over 2 years ago. They have recently fully closed from our information in the last 4 months. They didn't hold a public liquidation or auction, but instead I believe that Coleman withheld all the parts inventories to continue selling as a side business that helps support the dealers that were still out there with parts. Production of bikes has stopped. That is the most we know.

Interesting note regarding "keeping" the parts to help start BDPP. Was he able to pay off all his debts? Or did he purchase them himself for the startup of BDPP?

I would have imagined the debtors would have pushed for the liquidation sale to recoup some of their lost investments. I assume he would have not rolled his exisiting debt obligations into BDPP, that seems like it would severly handcuff him for going forward.

Searched online, seems like their was never a "bankruptcy" filing. A "peaceful" closing between the bank and the company. Now it makes sense why there was no liquidation, as well as why he still had those 20-30 bikes to sell to that guy starting that shop up in NY.

He's got some old money. If the market ever turns around I suspect he will build a few more. At this point it sounds like just a hobby for him.

I was told (not sure how true it is) but he has to provide parts for the bikes for 7 yrs as a former production company so wouldn't make sense for him to liquidate all the parts again.
