Lifter noise

Yesterday I was riding the dog and got about 5 miles from the house before my oil pressure light came on and the lifters started getting loud.. Turned the bike off and checked oil which was good. Let bike cool down for a bit and rode home with lifters making the loud noise.. Got home checked the tappet screen and it looked good.. Let bike cool down checked oil once more and level still good.. Thinking maybe pump went out.. If no one has any other ideas next step is to remove filter and start bike to see if oil is pumping.. I know people say adjusting pushrods will quiet noise down, but don't see how all of a sudden it would be making noise unless it wasn't getting oil... Any ideas guys?

Something like this happen to me last year. 100+ in stop and go traffic. All of a sudden my lifters started to clack. But the oil light never came on. I was running Mobil 1 at the time. Got out of traffic and got home. After the bike cooled down all was fine. I have since changed to Amsoil and under the same conditions no lifter clack.

I tried letting it sit but even when I started it this morning it was tapping excessively.. I just have stock exhaust but I can barely hear that over the tapping..
