Let's hear about any and all Issues that CAN be attributed to the EHC

Exactly!!! So many people are jumping to the assumption that the EHC is the problem, when in fact, it is not. That Wire Plus ( WP ) everyone seems to be changing out to is garbage in my opinion. The company never answers their phones, it eliminates the use of the engine OFF/RUN switch, it is WAY over priced for what it does. I have only messed around with one of these, never hooked one up, but the one I have out in the garage right now has clearly melted down. Thunder Heart makes the same type of setup, but half the price. Its built out of Aluminum, not plastic, so it removes heat a lot better.
If you are having problems with your bike running, make sure your checking ALL the electronics, not just EHC..work from Battery back...ALWAYS start with your battery. I have seen more ignition systems fail, than I have EHC's...Just my $.02
I agree EHC gets the blame alot for something simple.

But just for clarification purposes. The WP leaves all BDM stock functions. On/Off switch still works, 4 way flashers work, default to high beam if low burns out, etc. 4 way flashers are a different sequence to turn them on. Can't remember what it is off the top of my head but someone posted and I tried it and it worked.

With WP hooked up the way they tell you to, they splice both wires ( blue/red ) from On/off button. Thus, making it in RUN mode all the time, no OFF. Like I said, only messed with one of these, but that's how it was hooked up at another shop and that's how the WP diagram tells you to do it...So...? Thinking there's probably some sort of liability behind this, No?

Dear Lord, Please let us not remove sarcastic or crude humor from this forum as the EHC represents both and without it, we would have little to bitch about. Amen!

I think it is a trust thing.
The stories i have read on here have had me pay the WP people a kazillion dollars and it is still not installed.
I want to do a lot of miles on my own, and the vast distances we have over here without any sort of assistance available makes me want to change it out.
The original EHC is still going strong even after the importer has had the guts ripped out and a bunch of grapes installed and then me pulling all that crap out. It is still alive.
It does get hard to start on a cold morning, with a full Battery and good connections.
Clicks a few times than burst into life...................WTF.
Every bike i have owned, and i have had a shit load, heve their little quirks.........the EHC is just one.

Bike died twice and had to be towed home.
Then lost low beam.
Then lost high beam, both in the same day.
Tried a known good bulb, no difference.
Checked wiring from the headlight to under the tank, from under the tank to the EHC plug, all was OK.
Got no continuity through the EHC after reading up on how to.
Put in spare EHC and all is well.

'Cept now I have a fuel problem making the bike die ( but there is still electronics when this happens).... So it goes =:(

What was the Issue and symptoms:
a) bike wouldn't start for a couple of attempts then it just starts without any further problems. (had a new battery)
b) all lights started flashing sometimes when I started bike, sometimes when I was riding
c) sometimes no control buttons worked - had to turn off the bike with turning the key.

Who diagnosed this issue: Myself with the help of all the info on this forum, my mechanic who couldn't find any other issues with the electrical system

How was this Issue Resolved: bought the BDPP PDM which replaced the EHC

Was this Issue resolved? Yes, all issues were resolved, but started to have some quirks with the speedo. But otherwise, bike runs great.

April 2011 start the bike in the garage to get ready for the first ride of the season. Runs great. Shut it off roll it out to the driveway and gather my gear. Put my gear on and try to start the bike. I get the 4 ways. I look at the ehc and the leds say the low beam is out. Sure as shit it is. Pull the bulb and it tests fine. Put it back and bike starts. If I was in the middle of no where at 2 AM I would not be a happy camper. The ehc is too over protective. The next day I ordered my wireplus. First ride of the season 2012 the low beam burns out again. But since I have the wireplus and I start the bike with lights off no problem. I switch to the high beam and ride into the sunset.
I'm over my ECH . My 08 BD K9 only clicks with no power to the green ignition wire to the starter . The bike will start at random times . Where did you order your wire plus from ? Any Pictures or video ....

This cracks me up, after all the info on this subject we still gotta talk about it, :oldroll: haha! :oldlaugh: So here it is, one more time! I started having problems right away with my 2009 Mastiff that I bought used in 2015, randomly dying while riding or not starting and having correct voltage, lights not working, etc......:oldbang: :oldbang::oldbang: all the typical problems associated with the EHC, tried everything else first, even bypassed the EHC completely, which worked, but was just half ass, even got it tested and was told it is 100% ok and that it's something else like probably a short or sumth'n in the harness,:oldcrazy: so finally after a year of screw'n around I bit the bullet and installed my ESC from Dead one customs :old2: and have since then had NO problems at all!!!!!:whoop::whoop::whoop: Like Jeff said, it will make you love your bike again, he was 100% correct! :yesnod: If you are having issues and don't know what to do, don't waste any time or energy screw'n round like I did, change you EHC and start enjoying your bike again! There are a few good options now and I believe they are all good, of coarse I am very happy with my ESC and would "highly" recommend it, but like I said, there are other options now. Oh, and by the way, I sold my EHC to a member here thinking it was good since I was told it was and he had the same issues with it that I did so obviously it was NOT 100% ok! Yes, I refunded him his money and that sucker is a great paper weight now! Hahaha!

OK.... I am a believer - I am new to the site and the dogs so have a lot to learn obviously. I am a serial fixer but prefer riding to crawling on my knees so may treat myself to an Axel unit . Appreciate the comments dude

Thanks for the tip - I have bought most things from Curtis and WSW lately to get my Dog on its feet. However, I can get this direct from Axel himself in Europe without having to pay the very high import duty into UK - Thanks Seal
