I believe BD builds a good bike
They had some ECM problems a few years back
Its a custom and I belive they do a good job
All bikes have problems and cars also
See a lawyer if you don't get help from dealer
See a forum if you need skilled mech/elec help
We like BD cycles
Thats why we own one

I had my bike for 2 maybe 3 months before it went back to a dealer and sat for 7 months dealer kept telling me it was big dog so I emailed big dog guess what ? Not 2 - 3 weeks later my whole top end was replaced. All this time the dealer was saying he'd help with the lemon law but I wanted my bike not that stincking lemon law shit. he wanted to sell another bike. Not a bdm dealer anymore either . Now if anyone is gonna fuck my bike up it's gonna be me. So do your lemon law or fix it but don't expect sympathy from the forum we've all had some issues and got past them with the forum...

MV;

Park it and Bitch (and do it somewhere else), or

Wrench and Ride.

Your problems aren't unique. Anything you have wrong is discussed someplace here on the forum with what to do to fix or get it fixed. Some folks never have a problem - some do. Fixers stay and whinners always disappear....you pick.

Still haven't heard what is wrong with your bike....

Newflash....I already know what service center is close to me...The problem is the two thats close do not know Jack! But thanks for your help....
I understand that you don't particularly like the two dealers close to you, but you seemed adamant about Big Dog fixing you bike. If thats the case you need to find the next closest dealer that can help and the ones I listed aren't too far from where you are. otherwise grab some wrenches and some help from here and fix it yourself.

I have learned alot from these guys on here, and saved me alot of trips to the dealer. but my dealer has taken care of me every time I have had to go there. I dont come on here and whine and cry about my bike when shit goes wrong, I LOOK FOR ANSWERS.

Give it up guys, he :loony: has already made up his mind..:down:
Reaper has still got the best looking scoot I have seen!!! :2thumbs:
I think I did to much research on my scooter. I rode it out the road a few miles and came back. I think I was impressed by the gid-e-up it has when you crank the throttle. I work on it myself with the help of these fine folks on this forum when I run across something that I can't figure out. I am thrilled to be able to have one of these scooters, we will call that Blessed actually. Sometimes warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on. If you like the bike, fix it yooself, and ride it!!

BDM

Well, I guess I'll weigh in on this as well. First off, I absolutely love my '04 Chopper. I did my due dilligence before I purchased it in '08 so I was well aware of the more "typical" issues these bikes have. Many thanks to all of you on this site who have helped me along the way. As of last week, and, after doing some searching on this site for information, I have come to the conclusion that my EHC has taken a dump. I do not like being stranded, nor do I care for being apprehensive every time I go to get on the bike whether it will make it to the next destination (hello Wire Plus!). I don't care who you are or how good of a "wrench' you claim to be, it's down right embarassing to be sitting on the side of the road with these hot (expensive) bikes, especially when it's your fault now that the group your're riding with has to stop and help a stranded member- obviously ruining the ride.
Hell, with only 14k on the clock, I need to have my seals replaced on the front forks, rocker box covers, lifter blocks.

Some questions for thought:

Harley Davidson has over 105 years of development- BDM couldn't use any of that technology/ experience?
High performance = Poor reliability? Are you kidding? (try selling that to Harley Davidson CVO) This is not the 1960's.
What exactly about these bikes is so complex that it would cause all of these issues?
With the advance of technology and information sharing in the last 20 years, did BDM totally ignore this and try to reinvent the wheel, so to speak?
Did BDM ever really have a functioning R&D department? Engineering department?
Was their purchasing department process proving the materials that were going into these bikes?
If you were launching a product into an existing market, wouldn't you at least attempt to be superior in every aspect, down to even the quality of the seals? :)
Surely we're not insinuating that BDM is selling brand new $20-30k "mechanics specials", are we??? (IMO, 26000+ bikes does not a "custom" make)

I really enjoy my Chopper, it's just that some of this stuff seems so simple for BDM to correct, or should have had the manufacturing and business savvy to address from the outset.
cheers!

It's fixable ...

I just jumped to the end but I'm pretty sure what's being said. I love my dog ... there are some issues but I can deal with it ... it's fixable. You should look into the mirror and ask God if He has a lemon law ... bet you're not perfect ... but fixable. Hope we all have a great new year ... :D:up:

I've been a little hesitant to respond to this thread because I'm a newb and I've had a few negative things to say about my BDM Wolf, however that is what forums are for (positive and negative feedback). I have learned much in 8 months just by reading and searching this forum.
Miami Vice, I purchased my Wolf from Las Cruces Motor Sports and dropped it off there for repair when it broke down. They diagnosed the problem the next day (3 days earlier than promised). BDM was involved within 6 days and the motor was scheduled to be returned to S&S. There were some communication problems that delayed the return of the engine to S&S but it eventually got there (3 weeks) The process was frustrating and being without my bike for 43 days just flat pissed me off. HOWEVER in retrospect, Corey at Las Cruces Motor Sports and several at S&S were PROFESSIONAL and attentive. Bob Lockwood (BDM) in particular deserves a big thank you.

Bob Lockwood is a good dude...
I have meet him myself and he took me on a tour of the factory. We have had a good long discussion on my thoughts about how BDM could improve customer relations...
I offered to do some things and asked about building a retro kit for the fairings for the 2007 Bulldogs but corporate never got back with me as they said they would.....
Also talked about building an on line troubleshooting diagnostic web site where owner could hook up there bikes to see why the engine light was tripped and BDM could upload the bike data to see if there was a common problem across the bike lines that they needed to review. I was more interested in the EFI line data than the carb units. I thought it would be a win, win situation for the company and owner. Being novel most people would hook up to see the history of there bikes and BDM could glean the information to make a better product and have a data base unrivaled in the motorcycle industry in monitoring what they produce and how it performs. Instant diagnostics if a owner needed to trailer a bike to the shop and inform a shop of a customer coming with a particular issue so they could cut the repair time downtime with advance information on what the issue may be before it arrived and be able to timely troubleshoot with a history before hand.....and perhaps have a part that may be needed...
Oh well......
I tried......

A bike under warranty should be fixed and fixed in a timely manner. I wouldn't blame someone if they wanted to utilize the lemon law, if the dealer/manufacturer will not address repairing their products. That's why the lemon laws exist.
Yes, a bike under warranty should be fixed in a timely manner.

Yet, is the warranty broke with his mods? Perhaps, or not. If the dealer installed all his mods then in most states his warranty is intact.
Even if he installed himself, most state laws require the factory to prove these items are what damaged the bike.

If you are not getting the results you are needing, I would call the factory and list out what is happening with a timeline and ask the co for help. They have several options they can do. Do not call with an attitude as no one likes that, would you? No

If your dealer cannot help, or another dealer cannot, and you are not comfortable with anyone in your area resolving your issues, call the factory, they will have solutions. A lawyer can help and generally the lawyer is the clear winner in these things, yet the lemon law is there for a reason and in some cases this is what it may come down to.

Have you seen the download copy of your motor? Can you post it for us to see? These downloads will tell everyone exactly what is going on with your motor and more.

Bottom line: by all means use the Lemon Law as a last resort if need be, but it should be a last resort.

Several have asked for what is going on with your scoot so we can better help you out. Without this info, we can only guess why you do not post it up.
