LED LIGHTS ON MY DOG.....GOOD IDEA???

I can understand the gay issue, but I can also agree with the safety issue. They do make you more visible on the road. So, I guess if you ride with them on, it's ok. But once you park, turn them off or your gay. I don't know. I agree with one of the other statements someone made that we buy Big Dogs because they are tough but also eye catchers. The lights do draw attention at night. Hey, if the ladies like lights...sign me up. If I was going to get any it would probably be white lights. Purple is definitely gay.

If done right, they look OK. Just don't go overboard with them. Some people put them everywhere but thier butt crack. Then it looks like crap!!!

You are not being called gay. Some people such as myself think it looks gay(the lights, not you). This thread started out as him asking for our opinions, so he got them. If you love your lights, great. No harm, no foul. My HID lights up the road like the sun so I don't need lights to be more visible at night. You can call my bike gay all you want, it don't hurt my feelings.

I was thinking about adding LED lights to my Dogs engine to set it off at night, maybe even to the wheels. I want to get everyones general opinion on the idea and maybe any other suggestions or comments you may have about it.
I don't like them but as posted already...... It's your bike so do what you want and don't worry about what others think of them.

Some people on here have posted that choppers don't look right with a sissybar. I think they don't look right without a sissybar!!

 :flag:

Its your bike brother......if I wanted them hanging everywhere and dragging down the street behind me thats what "I" would do. I don't have them on my bike, but I have seen some that look good. Make yourself happy, you the one buying them.

My idea of "GAY" seems to be a lot different than some of you. Never knew LED's could even look gay

If you have really bad..... and I mean really bad taste.... put them on. :D I ride a big dog because I like the bike. The attention has absolutely nothing to do with it. My 69 Camaro pro touring car gets me 10 times the attention and frankly it's already driving me nuts after 500 miles.

I have the same opinion. I think a little LED goes a long way. I forsure wouldn't want to look like I was riding a Christmas tree down the road. I did see some that I thought were ok, they were on the plugs and they didn't over do it. They were blue which was the same color as the bike. I think the LEDs should match the bike. Anyway I didn't mean to stir up alot of shit but it has made for some interesting reading! LOL!

When you ask for someone's opinion, that's what you'll get.

I think LEDs look cool for the mechanics of it all (i'm an electrician). The wiring, and concealment (when done properly) of the light pods and all that stuff. They look cool at night shining on all the chrome and stuff but I have heard that they can wreak havoc with your EHC if connected wrong. I've never seen anyone riding around with them on though and I wouldn't put them on my bike because it's not for me.

It's been my experience that the guys that turn them on in the parking lots of the local bike nights (regardless of what they ride, customs, harley, vespas!:D ) are showing off. But that's cool too if that's what you like to do.

Ray,
I too think that a chopper style bike doesn't look right WITHOUT a sissy bar at least moreso than on a prostreet bike although the idea of a sissy bar on my bike (Mastiff) is beginning to grow on me maybe out of necessity.

Bottom Line is that I would rather my buddy tell me, dude, don't put that shit on your bike (like the members here have done), rather than riding around looking jacked up.

Forsure LDO that's why I asked the dogs here! I appreciate everyones opinion and input. If I didn't then I shouldn't have asked. My wife always asks why I even ask her opinion on things because I always end up doing what I want anyway. I just think others opinions help you decide to do what you know your going to do anyway.

Look i didnt mean to call anybody GAY. He was asking for my opinion and i gave it. You wouldnt put LED lights on a Big Block chevy hotrod, would you. NO you put your money into the performance of the car. It's just my opinion that neon lights go on Japanes built shit because they lack the lines of American made V-Twins. i would rather check out someones bike because of the chrome and polished aluminum and mods to the bike. Not because of some $5 LED lights. And in the wonderful state of PA riding with the LED's on is illegal!!!

I SEE... it is a personal thing!!! :D You really want to put LED's on your bike really bad, but legally can't in your state, so you think it might be best to just pretend that they are gay!!

I figured it out!!! HOOLIGAN, your a closet LEDer !!! :D

There are nothing wrong with LED's if gone cleanly, and tastefully. Some bikes look good others do not.
I had them on my last bike and got TONS and TONS of compliments. Never had anybody say that they didn't like them!!

HA HA HA! Nice try but NO i would never put LED's on my bike. I think they take away from the appearance of the Big Dogs. I've said it before and i'll say it again. IF IT DON'T MAKE YOU GO FASTER...YOU DON'T NEED IT!!

   That's where I was going with it......"proud to be gay" :D Seriously Dude. I have some LED's on mine, subtle amber, under the tank, carb, front wheel and plate mount.....also have an on/off switch under the seat....works great if I'm not in a gay mood that night. :)

ps: Didn't take any money away from my performance budget......about $40.

If LED's are gay, then I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body :2thumbs: !

Tastefully done is GOOD. And it helps set off and show all the time you spent cleaning and polishing that chrome and aluminum.:2thumbs: .
