Lean angle on our scoots

I was at Rays the other day and his wife is considering what bike to get. In my quest to get her on a real motorcycle (no question it will be a Big Dog), I had her sit on my pup for fit and feel. My Mastiff has never looked better than at that moment :D , and she loved the fit n feel. Except, she could not stand it up off the kickstand. And this is a seriously fit lady. So then she got on the Choppa, and stood it up with ease. Hmmm WTF?

So we got to looking and the Mastiff leans way over compared to the Chopper.

Looking closer, and taking into consideration the difference in frames, we see the top bolt holding the kickstand is even with the swingarm bolt on the Mastiff, and about 2" lower on the chopper. This difference allows the Mastiff to lean much further over than the Choppa.

Wonder why?

Your thoughts and observations?

I wish I had more money.
Maybe if the chop were to have the same angle as the Mastif it would tip. Or tip really easy. Ya know a safty issue.

was that the case even with the front wheel on the mastiff turned to the right?

Yes, it's mine.

My guess would be that if it were angled any different, it would tip over when on any hillside. If I sit mine with kickstand downhill, it will try to run over the top of the kickstand. Well, it used to. It now doesn't because the kickstand bent and it sits way lower now. I'm replacing it soon. I think it's a flaw in the machining of the kickstand itself.

That's what I was thinking BB. I like the scoot to lean over a bit more... seems more stable on the kickstand. As far as slingin it upright.... sometimes it helps to turn the bars straight as you lift.

With my new ness kickstand it leans a bit farther...

i think its just like the beautiful shape of women.in order to compensate for lovely breasts protruding forward, they need there ass to also stick out behind them therefore they allways seem to be a balanced unit.......... balance ....seems to be the key to life........

I have always been told that a women raises the bike with their stronger legs and a man raises the bike with their arms!

TSDawg, how do you do it?

I just can't seem to come up with an appropriate comment about women and balance, as long as Ray has that avitar up. :D

(Don't tell Sailor Girl - or Mrs. P8RIOT! :spank: )

Seriously, KnotSo - I did notice that difference in lean when I moved your bike around in my garage last week. Somehow, it just seemed to handle "heavier." I remember being surprised.

I actually felt like the Mastiff felt heavier to me than the K9 when I was test riding them. Not really on the road but moving it around without power.

i've almost dropped my mastiff once or twice because of the lean....thought i had the kickstand down...started the lean and it almost kept going. Is there a longer kickstand that would alleviate some of that?

With all due respect if she can't get it off the kickstand I would be worried about the bike being to heavy for her. I do agree that my mastiff does take a little muscle to get it off the stand but nothing to crazy.

Do it? We still talking about lifting my bike up? LOL You guys are going to love this. I had no freaking idea. :loony: So, I went out to the garage and jumped my little azz on Lola and here's the skinny on it. I leave the handlebars cranked left. I lean my left thigh (calm down) against my seat near the lower tank. I push/pull it with my thigh and with my left hand actually pull the hardest against my left handle bar with my left hand, finally straightening the handlebars out as she stands up to nearly vertical. I would NOT have agreed with you if you'd have told me that's how I do it. But she stands right up in a hurry....and of course I look cool and make it look as effortless as possible as to not look like a big ole whimpy girl!

Ok T, I'm not getting between those thighs!!!!!!! Glenda lifts with her legs also so if it's low and easy she likes it just like the Thunder Mountain Spitfire she tried.
