Leaky fork seals

I had fork oil running up the fork tubes so figured the seals were leaking. I followed the fork service article on this site and replaced the seals, then dumped in the suggested amount of 30W fork oil.

However, within a week they were leaking again!

Is there anything else that can cause this leak other than the seals? Perhaps a certain brand and/or type of seal is better than the ones I used, even though my dealer recommended them?

Thanks!

Jeff, when you had the legs off did you notice any wearing of the chrome. Mine are shot and need replaced due to the chrome being worn off. Once it's gone then the aluminum goes faster.
Mine leak very bad and until I replace my legs I wrap shop (paper) towels around the forks under the caps. I change them out every couple weeks.

Don't know about using any other seals but if you find something that works I'll be game to try it.

Raywood, I can't say I noticed any wearing of the chrome, though I doubt that I really looked at it that carefully. Might just have to go thru the whole process again and take a better look at things. The seals only run about $12, so at least it's a pretty inexpensive ordeal.

Might just have to do the ol' "shop towels under the cap" trick that you mentioned... never thought of that one! Won't fix anything, but at least until I get a chance to fix it, my bike won't look like such a mess with the oil running up the tubes.

Thanks for the input.
