leak gas cap

I have been reading about the gas cap leaking. On my 08 Mutt the fuel leaks out when my tank is full. I mean while I am riding down the road. It doesn't leak when sitting on the side stand. Doesn't seem to be any pressure when I stop and remove the cap. The cap itself seems to be ok. I have it apart now and it looks fine. Is there a tank vent other than the cap that I may be missing? My other 2 bikes have never leaked no matter how full I fill the tank, and I know they have a tank vent with a rollover valve. This fuel is screwing up my paint, and should not leak out of the cap even when the tank is full.

if the vent in the cap is bad just remove the white part.. or it could be the paint saver seal leaking which might look as if the cap is leaking..

It's probably leaking around the ring. The is a rubber gasket under it. Us a spanner or a screw driver and tap it on a bit tighter.

I sent my tank back to Big Dog 3 times. The first 2 times the cap wasn't venting properly. The 3rd time it seems the bike is so hot when i park it in the shed or trailor after riding, the gas condensates around the gas cap and leaks around the paint saver ruining my clear coat. I'm in the habit now of taking off my gas cap if i'm parking it in the trailer or shed immediatly after a ride

Thanks for the replies! I took the cap apart and cleaned and reinstalled the parts. Went for a ride and it did not leak. I had really tightened the cap down hard. Went to take it off and the cap separated from the plastic screw in and the little bolt holding the cap and the plastic dropped into the tank. Fished it out with a magnet and locktighted it. i will see what happens tomorrow. May be just a stuborn seal and needs to be cranked down on.
