I noticed this while I was cleaning the bike. 04 Mastiff. Obviously need to reattach before I ride it again. Can’t find where it goes. Please help

I am being told those are breather lines, it’s supposed to be that way. Some oil is coming out of it, I am also being told I should expect that. I am glad it is nothing major.

Yep its just the breather hose....just route it to where its pointing down to the ground between the trans and motor so its not getting all over everything

Just texted you, but yea its normal you could put a little filter on it to reduce the oil going all over or actually you have the stock S&S back plate there should be a provision to hook that hose up to the air filter backplate. Something like this...https://amzn.to/3p4Gzah

It's better to run to the ground so your not pushing oil back into carb. I think that design is really to please EPA. Your call on what route you want to go.

Yeah, I would say a previous owner got tired of oil leaking from the ac occasionally and ran the breather to the ground. Just make sure he plugged the breather port on the back plate. That would allow unfiltered air into the engine which is bad news in dusty conditions.

What engine is in your Mastiff? That sure looks like the breather setup on the 117. Some late '04 models got the new 117. If that's the case, and you are getting oil out of that breather, then something isn't right.

It is the 117. I just serviced the carb, I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads up.

There should be a breather line coming off your front head. Is it connected to the manifold? Is there a check valve in the breather coming off the rear head?

There is a line coming off the front head. I will have to see about the manifold connection and the check valve. I will get back to you. Thanks!

The guy helping me maintain the bike says it may have to do with the fact that it ran while low on oil, blue smoke, possibly worn piston ring, I definitely have a bad gasket so oil is leaking enough that it went bone dry after 400 miles. This is what the exhaust tips look like. Going to have the pistons looked at and the head gaskets replaced
